apoptosis (1316), Long Island, New York, USA Jan 21, 2008 Maybe this bottle was bad, but I didn’t have a good experience with this one. Bitter and tart beer. It smells like a pilsner of Budweiser qualtiy - corn and rice. This beer is not a good representation of a BSA, and it is terribly light.
Habanero (471), Tranbjerg, Denmark Aug 30, 2008 Bottle. Pours with a clear golden body and a huge white head. Good lacing. Nose of citrus and light malt. Flavour with citrus fruit, yeast and notes of hop. Ends up more dry with a little bitterness. Medium bodied. Good and crisp. Ober (308), Best, Netherlands Aug 28, 2008 Bottel @ Bar Take One, Maastricht, Netherlands. A clear yellow/orange colored beer, with a nice foamed white head. The aroma of citrus, malts, sweets and coriander. It has a fruity taste, of citrus and orange. A little alcohol. It’s easier to drink then the red Duvel. A good lighter summer version. Sofajoern (145), Denmark Aug 24, 2008 Huge white head over yellow/golden slightly hazy body. Yeasty aroma with quite a bit of fruit and light notes of hops.
Flavour is a bit sweeter than Reg. Duvel. Quite fresh with a dryer, bitter finish.
Borresteijn (543), Amstelveen, Netherlands Aug 22, 2008 Bottle @ Café Gollem. Clear golden with a white head. Aroma is fruity, malty. Flavour is fruity, sweet, a bit hoppy, malty. A lot softer and sweeter than the regular Duvel, lacks the bitterness and is less sour. Nice nonetheless. CapedBrewsader (184), Brasschaat, Belgium Aug 20, 2008 25cl bottle at home: Bright polished gold with a somewhat thin white head. Big grainy sweetness coming from the glass. Brown-bread dough aroma dominates over yeast derived spice. Touch of herbal hop green mingles with the spice. Exploding carbonation kicks an almost tannic malt and sugar sweetness all around your mouth. I think the "tannic" aspect is really the dark yeasty spice fusing with the malt. Starts sweet but ends nice and dry. Some of the sharp edges I don’t like on the regular Duvel seem more smoothed out in this beer. Yeast, sugar, and bitterness seem to work together more in this one.
