sfontain (500), Columbus, Ohio, USA Feb 3, 2006 Light, barely pale, golden body; loads of lively bubbles; and a monstrous, frothy, white head that doesn’t quit for hours. In my opinion, the serving recommendation (40-50 degrees Fahrenheit) is bogus; the aroma doesn’t even begin to open up until it is significantly warmer than that. Aroma becomes more aggressive as the beer warms; it’s medium in strength, nonetheless; very interesting yeasty nose, not entirely like anything I can recall having before; there is some of the typical Belgian clove and banana, but there is something else that’s subtle but I don’t know the words to describe it. Flavor also shows the strange, yeasty characteristic, in addition to some nice, bready malts, pleasant but mild sharp sweetness; the alcohol is nearly undetectable but beautifully present in a very light warmth in the swallow; tremendously well balanced, light, hoppy finish. Medium-thin body; extremely frothy in the mouth; bubbles up profusely in the mouth. Wow--I didn’t even begin to "get" this beer until I sat down with the last 4 ounces to rate it; I planned to write about how overrated it is, but this one really snuck up on me. Very nice.
Koen890 (2), Vilvoorde, Belgium does not count Oct 7, 2008 very strong beer with a nice collar.
it contains tastes such as orange peels and hops aromas.
I gladly drink it after the evening meal.
One of my favorites! Lilywhite (3), Preston, Lancashire, England does not count Oct 7, 2008 Lovely pale colour followed by a slightly citrusy smooth flavour. Very more-ish. IDunno19 (32), Ames, Iowa, USA Oct 3, 2008 Very pleasantly surprised! Enigmatic beer actually. Hoppy and wheaty with a touch of citrus like Hoegaarden. Taste is smooth and silky with that classic Belgian wheat beer taste. I feel like it’s more of a Saison like Ommegang Hennepin than a Belgian Strong Ale but hey, I like it so I’m not gonna complain. Great beer! Whiskeyjack (10), , Massachusetts, USA Oct 3, 2008 Full malty aroma with notes of peach. Pours with a rich head and a clear golden color. Sweet & fruity in flavor, backed up by a pleasant taste of hops. I had high expectations for this beer and while it is a very solid ale, I wasn’t blown away by it. taalhiker (111), Dayton, Ohio, USA Oct 3, 2008 From bottle. Poured clear dark yellow with large frothy white head. Aromas of citrus and slight yeast. Tastes very complex with hops starting off and giving way to a malty finish. No hint of alcohol.
