zootfinster (158), Chicago, Illinois, USA Dec 2, 2006 Updated: Feb 2, 2007 I think I’ll sell all my possessions and move to Belgium Until I discovered Belgium ale I was a devotee of Pilsners. Ales were no match for lagers in my world. But now it’s my plan to find a hovel in Belgium with a refrigerator. I’ll have just enough money to eat and buy a few beers each day. I might consider that having gone to heaven.
Duvel is a sparkling, bright refreshing ale. It has a nice big white head. It has a sweet and tart taste. Just a little tingle in the back of the mouth.
The high ratings for this beer are well substantiated in my opinion.
drjay44 (163), Colorado, USA Oct 10, 2008 330 ml. bottle. Pours a nice thick, creamy long duration head, with loads of lacing, over a slightly cloudy pale yellow body....mild slightly spicy belgian yeast nose, with some mild citrus tones....tastes of mild citrus, with lots of carbonation up front, finishing with a sharp and lasting hop bitterness. Very nice mouth feel. Since Moortgat created the style of a Golden Belgian Strong Ale, it is the standard. Koen890 (2), Vilvoorde, Belgium does not count Oct 7, 2008 very strong beer with a nice collar.
it contains tastes such as orange peels and hops aromas.
I gladly drink it after the evening meal.
One of my favorites! Lilywhite (3), Preston, Lancashire, England does not count Oct 7, 2008 Lovely pale colour followed by a slightly citrusy smooth flavour. Very more-ish. IDunno19 (32), Ames, Iowa, USA Oct 3, 2008 Very pleasantly surprised! Enigmatic beer actually. Hoppy and wheaty with a touch of citrus like Hoegaarden. Taste is smooth and silky with that classic Belgian wheat beer taste. I feel like it’s more of a Saison like Ommegang Hennepin than a Belgian Strong Ale but hey, I like it so I’m not gonna complain. Great beer! Whiskeyjack (10), , Massachusetts, USA Oct 3, 2008 Full malty aroma with notes of peach. Pours with a rich head and a clear golden color. Sweet & fruity in flavor, backed up by a pleasant taste of hops. I had high expectations for this beer and while it is a very solid ale, I wasn’t blown away by it.
