Pours a nice gold flow. I was expecting more a beer of this price. It was good but not what I was expecting. Nice and smooth with a bit tart taste. Aroma was decent with a sampling of maltiness to it.

Bottle, 33 cl, best by 12/2010. Aroma of light fruits, a hint of spiciness, and a light yeast feel. Flavor astringent and alcoholic, with very little goodness coming through except a spicy hop character which tries to deal with the rest, but cannot. Weak fruitiness and weak sweet malt is there, but hardly in enough quantity to make its presence known over the alcohol and astrigency. Perhaps I’ll try a 750 one day, but this stuff wasn’t all that fun, especiallly considering it’s rating.

Finally I try this icon. For one of the flagships of belgian breweryness, I found this one to be a bit, er, meh. It was decent, there’s no doubt, but it was just a simple belgian beer with some sweet malts, a lot of yeast, a spicy character note, and a golden color. I found it to be the stereotype of belgians, which I guess could be construed as positive even though I found it underwhelming.

33 cL bottle. Pours a slightly cloudy piss yellow with a huge foamy white head. Aroma of wheat, light fruits. Flavor is similar with an initial spicy kick. A bit boozy and leaves a strong warmth in your throat. Ok, but nothing special....

Small bottle from By the Bottle in Vancouver, WA--Poured a bright, bubbly yellow body with a thick gentle white head. Effervescent and prickly nose and mouthfeel. Notes of white grapes, pairs, and apples with a dry mild sugar presence. Tingling on the palate and lingering piquant hop character and dry finish. Great beer!
