buzzoven (116), Japan Jun 29, 2008 Smooth, crisp, dry and tart...Duvel’s golden ale is a good summertime ale but is best served cold. Once it warms up, it gets a bit hard to enjoy.
kpresley77 (66), Jackson, Georgia, USA Aug 29, 2008 Bottle pours golden with thick white head. Aroma is sweet fruit and bread. First taste is slightly sweet then the carbonation bite takes over. Finish is clean and well balanced. Pretty good but to much carbonation for me. troopie (478), USA Aug 27, 2008 Bottle. Poured clooudy gold with a foamy white head. Funky Belgian aroma, malt and spice. Malty flavour with that spiciness again. My guess that a strain of Brettanomyces is used. Lasting tart finish. Well worth drinking again JCB (1001), Durham, North Carolina, USA Aug 27, 2008 750 from Kroger, Durham. Hell yeah, from the Kroger! Overall impression is that I don’t buy this beer nearly enough. I have found myself recently seeking out numerous clones of Duvel or hoppy Belgians in roughly the same style. But this one’s the king, baby. Bright golden pour with just a smidge of haziness from the lovely yeasts, and a big rocky head. Very lively brew, carbonation that you just want to hold up to the light and admire. Superb flavor, with mild fruity notes complimenting the yeast just so. Lightly spicy and well hopped finish. Awesome. fidel (133), Livermore, California, USA Aug 27, 2008 Hazy yellow, lots of CO2, citrus, banana, yeasty, malty, nice spicey dry finish. ketchepillar (250), Des Moines, Iowa, USA Aug 27, 2008 Aroma > taste by a little bit. Very thick pillowy white head. Aroma is fruity sweet w/ some tartness. Taste is more malty sweet w/ tartness. Finishes nicely dry and crisp but with some oddness.
