Gary (18), on vacation, France Sep 12, 2008 Updated: Nov 20, 2008 Big ass cloud formats are voluptuos with fat ass appealing cream . The head iz proudly resideing above pale gleeming a base. A classy aroma giving your brain cells pear, banana and apple esters .Straw ,hay and floral resiny hops permeate in the air. When you drink Duvel from a big corked bottle, the corky notes add lovely dimensions to the smell.
Drinking Duvel is an experience in refreshment, style & complexity united. A clinging expressive dryness clings to my gumbs .The dryness moves nicely like waves in and out..notes of pilsener malt are juicy in their sweetness ,giving subtle and yet still never too understated an appeal. A fun showcase in fruit from the yeast esters .Exactly the same as the fruit mentioned in the smells, though banana is most strinking. Giving an almost weizen like characteristic. Resiny hoppiness is spicy and lively ,as it glides together in the streams of flavour in the finish.
The palate does have a tendency to be a bit flabby & overly sweet from 330ml bottles. Corked 750ml bottles obscure that shit.
A real good beer.

Cloudy yellow, foamy head. Looks like a foamy wheat beer. Smells like a nice wheat beer. It is a little bit bitter for my taste, but a nice drink otherwise. poolboy (29), Lafayette, Indiana, USA Nov 30, 2008 Pale yellow with white head. Tastes of bread, yeast, and spices. Not my favorite Belgian, but quite drinkable. Archibaldo de la Cruz (174), Finland Nov 30, 2008 Clear golden colour with a huge white head. Yeasty and fruity aroma. The flavour is fruity, yeasty, spicy and a bit sweet. Soft and balanced brew. Scauca (297), Lovere, Italy Nov 28, 2008 A little hazy golden topped with one of the hugest creamiest white head you’d never encounter on a beer. Bready, yeasty, damn’ spicy. Some hops if drunk young. Dry & watery as a Pils, stunning as a barleywine. A classic. ChainGangGuy (1721), Kennesaw, Georgia, USA Nov 27, 2008 Appearance: Pours a clear, golden body with a tall, airy, cloud white head. Notable head retention and tons of fine, sticky lacing throughout.
Smell: Delicate malts with soft touches of clover honey. Mild floral and spice notes, along with fruity hints of pineapple and banana-flavored bubblegum. Lightly boozy, but it’s a classy booziness, mind you.
Taste: Soft pale maltiness with a light honey sweetness. Splash of dessert wine. Bits of banana, chewing gum, and ripe pineapple. Slight sour yeastiness. Light floral and spicy Noble hop character and bitterness. Peppery alcohol, particularly on the otherwise drying, fruity finish.
Mouthfeel: Medium-plus body. Moderate carbonation. Very slight stickiness throughout.
Drinkability: Rather drinkable despite the 8.5% ABV. A respectable stalwart member of the classic Belgians.
