Pours a clear light yellow -- the palest Belgian I have seen. The very big bright white head has amazing retention and makes some interesting formations. Aroma is definitive "Belgian" with yeast, fruity esters (banana, pear, light citrus), and some spice. Flavor is basically everything found in the nose. It’s lightly sweet with a dry finish. Excellent carbonation. Not really any detectable alcohol. Drank a lot of this last year in Costa Rica as it was the only decent beer available. Duvel is truly one of life’s pleasures.

| 4.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 5/5 | 17/20 | Dec 26, 2009 Pours a golden hue with a thick white head and rapidly rising bubbles. This beer feels exceptionally light and crisp yet so full of flavor. Its spicy yeast character blends seamlessly with lemony fruits. It finishes dry and mildly hoppy. Very drinkable beer, would love to drink all night. jnelson_22 (17), Spaldwick, Cambridgeshire, England
| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 5/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Dec 25, 2009 This one pours a pale gold with a huge, sticky head and lively carbonation. The aroma is flowery, spicy hops and light fruits. Plenty of hops in the mouth mixed with some apple/pear fruitiness and warm alcohol character... nothing dry about the finish on this one. I know this is a world classic that has defined an entire style, but i’m just not a big fan... blackmurder (170), sadf, Hawaii, USA
| 4.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 10/10 | 5/5 | 9/10 | 3/5 | 18/20 | Dec 22, 2009 A pretty damned great beer. I shared this with a bandmate of mine who found it to be equally impressive. Heavy malt flavors with sweet sweet fruity goodness. Hard to really put a finger on the notes since they are quite unique compared to other beers. The lacing was amazing, as was the head. Thick frothing lacing like a beautiful woman’s stockings, or something. The aroma was kind of fruity, but more malty and grain based. Amazing. BarossaLuke (111), Australia
| 3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 4/5 | 10/20 | Dec 21, 2009 Clear, light golden colour with a lasting white head. Pear and stone fruit aromas with a slight hint of alcohol. Light palate that again has a touch of alcohol about it. Im just not a big fan of Belgian beers, but I can appreciate that this is a good one and always consistent. Bejaaamin (115), London, Ontario, Canada
| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Dec 19, 2009 Pours out piss-clear yellow with a greenish tinge. Yeasty on the nose, backed by a ton of lemon, apples, and some grassy notes. Texture is very nice, creamy. Taste is good, very smooth, good balance. A solid beer that will never fail you. mike67 (86), , New Jersey, USA
