Hints of caramel mixed with the dried fruit in the taste, alcohol also a bit noticeable. Body is a reddy amber with an off-white head. Finish is sometimes heavy and cloying then sometimes thin aand watery.

Very nice colour - almost perfect copper. Not much aroma at all. Flavour is all dry maltyness with limited citrus and fruity - hop character. Nice but not sensational.

Draft at Dux de Lux in Queenstown. Pours copper with a medium eggshell head. Hops, caramel malt, pine, and alcohol make up the aroma. The flavor follows suit, along with fruit and wood. Light-medium bodied. Crisp, with a bite at the end. Lacks the balance that would help it match up better in this style. However, I did like this one better than most of the other DDL offerings I tried.

Bottle. Pours light, clear slightly reddish brown with a bubbly off-white head. Fair amount of hops on the nose with aromas of pine, lavender, caramel and burnt sugar. Flavour also features a strong hop presence as well and has hints of caramel, tropical fruit, a little woodiness and citrus with a lingering bitterness at the end. Overall this seems a bit disjointed and not particularly well balanced but it is an ok beer and quite easy to drink.

My first beer rated at work online. Dark brown color, huge caramel malts hits the nose. Hops are there, but in the background. Earthy, toffee notes in the mouth. Definitely looking like an English ale, but a bit lacking in balance and a bit more bittering hops than usual. Slight toffeeish finish with mild bitterness. Pleasant, but needs more balance.

Draught at Dux de Lux, Queenstown. Pours clear amber with a white head that completely disappeared. Aroma of burnt malt, alcohol phenols and band-aids. The flavour wasn’t any better. A seriously infected beer. I struggled to finish just the sample.

Pours red/brown with orange highlights and a quickly dissapating off white head. Aromas are quite earthy, dry grassy hops with some biscuity malt. Palate is much the same, however caramel/toffee malt adds interest. A layer of apricot and peach hides underneath. Finishes with dark malts and dry hop bitterness.

500mL bottle from Regional. Pours red/amber with off white head. Aromas are hoppy, as expected. Malt shows a lot too, quite fruity with apple like esters mingling with caramel malt. Bready malt initiates the flavour, which is very strong. Malty profile dominates this beer, with hops showing up at the end providing a sharp bitter finish. A nice beer, but quite sloppy in its flavours. Strong is the correct word to describe this pale ale Dicky.
