Commercial Description:
Only found in speciality organic foodstores, Bionelle is quite another class of beer. It bears the famous AB (organically grown) label and is of course certified by the independent organization, Ecocert. A natural, unfiltered beer, its light character makes it an ideal summer beverage, best served at between 5 and 6ºC. Produced using the traditional methods dear to the brewery, this yeast-rich beer is based on malted barleys, milled wheat and hops that are all organically grown. It has a fine, white head and naturally cloudy appearance owing to its being bottled unfiltered.

Nice head and hazy golden color. The aroma is fruity and the flavour is balanced and smooth with notes of hops, honey, clover and melon. The bitterness is very light. A nice summer beer.

(Bottle 25 cl) A very yellow beer, slightly hazy with sediment and a gigantic, white head. Extremely flowery nose from the fine aroma hops. Mellow, malty notes, very refined without much bitterness. Organic. 080303

Hazy golden color, with good foamy white head, pale malt, fruity, herbal hop, lemony and oily citrus aroma follows through on a medium-bodied palate with earthy, floral hop accent, palae malt, lemony, zesty mild grapefruit with a soft delicate hoppy note on the finish in a good carbonation.

Sample from 330 ml bottle at the Mondial. Thick translucent blonde with lasting snowy head and good lacing...huge floral-perfumy nose, lavender and light dry hops, slight farmy qualities and sugars...vanilla-maple-sweet body given depth and complexity by sourdough, light citrusy spiciness...fluffy, pillowy-soft mouthfeel that’s just slightly syrupy...quite refreshing yet full.

2005 bottle at Mondial, 6/4/05. Smells like dry, old, fuggles or EKGs. Cheesey, soft, pleasant and lightly funky. Yellow-gold color, with touches of soft, orange tones. Small white head is retained at cover and is lightly creamy. Small, lazy bubbles rise to the surface. Clear, yet it claims to be unfiltered. Maybe I got the top of the bottle, I dont remember. Lacing on the glass makes a good case for it. Flavor is light powdered sugar with lemon at first, then getting lightly tart with nice dry wheat flavors. BIts of honey and vienna malt-like graininess. Soft, flowery hops are again flavorful if somewhat faint, with plenty of dusty yeast. A very unique beer, to say the least. I could drink quite a number of these. Very understated in every way; body, hops flavor, malt, carbonation. It’s all there in ample enough form, but nothing jumps out. Medium body, ending dry. Wheat and grainy malt provide texture, while there is a touch of wateriness on the end.

Immense col blans mousseux. Présence de lie en suspension. Saveur: Goût de moufette très léger avec une agréable pointe de citron. Arrière goût court. Palette: Corps et texture mince. Carbonisation moyenne. Arrière goût de citron. (Rating #80)

Sweet malts with a lemon yeast character and herbal, lightly spicy hop nose that is simple but appealing. Opaque yellow straw coloured body with dense, rocky, white head that lasts throughout. Sweet malt flavour has plenty of lemony citrus notes and an earthy hop flavour and fair bitterness in the finish. Light body with very strong carbonation that prickles sharply on the tongue. As it warms the carbonation becomes less harsh more of a soft and engaging feel on the tongue and the flavour becomes far more expressive. Simple, sweet and refreshing, this one really grew on me throughout the tasting. If I’d realized this had so few ratings, I would have saved it for a tasting... Bottle.
