Spicy, herbal, anise-like nose. Lightly sweetish and malty, but actually rather light-bodied. Honestly I’ve never tasted absinthe, but it’s definitely a very unusual flavour, and it’s pretty much hit or miss whether you like it or not. Comes in a weird aluminum bottle. 110705 omhper (12299), Stockholm, Sweden

Salty licorice along with anise dominates. There is a decent maltiness to back the flavours up. Kind of an interesting gimmick. fiulijn (7500), Como; Lausanne (CH); Malmö (SWE), Italy

The bottle is quite fancy, and was part of the reason I bought it :)) The color is golden and the head is small. the aroma has hops, anise and perhaps a bit of ginger? The flavour is spicy and has notes of anise, pepper and again I am not sure whether it’s ginger? A very different beer indeed, but Ok in it’s own fun way. Bov (5514), Bienne, Switzerland

| 1.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 3/10 | 4/5 | 2/10 | 2/5 | 2/20 | Oct 11, 2004 Deep gold; irregular just off-white head. Usually I smell this in a place where they manufacture hardboard, wallpaper or linoleum. Some child’s green sweets smell like this too. Those child’s sweets return in the taste - with an extra chemical edge. Slick, oily MF, medium bodied. This is beyond words. jbrus (4903), Delft, Netherlands
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Nov 7, 2004 Sweet spicy fruits in the aroma. Pale golden color, white head, good lace. Very special flavors, anis, spices, sweet, compact, little sticky. I was wondering if I liked it or not. As it’s not really chemical tasting I decided to like it. | 2.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 2/5 | 10/20 | Jan 27, 2007 A lightly hazed golden ale with a thin creamy white head. A spicey lemony aroma, orange peels and light licorice. In mouth, a sweet malt with peppery notes, overlayed by strong lemony overtones. Overall, its their decent Biere de Garde, enhanced by the addition of absithe, giving an unhappy marriage. Bottle from Piscator in Winnipeg. BB 03-07.
