| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 5/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 13/20 | Jan 18, 2007 75 cl bottle purchased in Paris, France for 3.80 euros. Pours a rich, glowing amber orange with a frothy cream head. Very good looking beer. Smell is very interesting, with dust, leather, and soft fruit malt. Full-bodied beer, dry with no lingering. Sweet plum, apple, yeast, coriander, pepper, and alcohol. Not overwhelming or even suggesting of 7.5% though. Flavors all stay with in the realm of tasty and nothing is bad here. Solid drinking beer, I could have drank the entire 75cl bottle, which is rare to say amongst many of the bigger bottles. jpm30 (1588), East Central, Georgia, USA
| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 4/5 | 13/20 | Jan 7, 2007 From a caged corked, H-6 on the cork, 750 ml. green bottle with a blurb on the back label, sampled at cellar temperature in a tulip glass.
Poured a clear reddish amber with a frothy, foamy head that settled into a thin sudsy lacing.
Aromas of lightly toasted grains, a apple and grape fruitiness with a little orange zest, earthy yeast, and a soft floral hoppiness.
Good even carbonation and a crisp, dry, velvety smooth medium-light bodied mouthfeel.
Pleasant tasting, toasted grassy grains and caramelized sugary maltiness, earthy, peppery yeastiness, a light fruitiness, a bit apple and orange, spicy hops with a soft, but lingering bitterness, a slight taste of alcohol towards the end, the alcohol provides a subtle warming in the palate, and a dry grainy, subtle fruity, spicy finish.
Not a great, but not a bad Biere de Garde, if I lived in northern France, I could see this being a everyday beer, easy, smooth drinkability, but at $6.99 a bottle here in central Illinois, only once in awhile ale.

Copper color with a full white head. Sweet and malty aroma. Sweet taste, bitter end. You get some caramel flavors and it is medium bodied. It feels nice in the mouth and there is a sweetness in the aftertaste. drpimento (880), La Crosse, Wisconsin, USA
