Pours with a medium head, leaving some lace. Nice amber color. Malty, citrus orange nose. Starts sweet and fruity and finishes with some tartness and underlying hops. Medium bodied. Very different for a French beer. Served at Passports in Glouster, MA ($4.75).

(bottle) slightly hazy copper. Aroma fruity/yeasty, but no yeast in flavor, which is sweet, carmel, aromatic with noticable alcohol.

Nice nose, malty. Caramel, tea, fruity but not much hops. Beautiful dark amber clear with custard white pillowy lacing head. Medium watery body and medium soft carb. Taste is actually kind of weak. A little sweet malt, no hops. A distinct flavor is present in the finish (paper?) - may be the style. Alcohol. Almost no after.

Red/Amber colour with a small head. Malt and a bit of fruit in the aroma. Taste of malt, spice and caramel. Nothing exceptional, but still a appreciable. In southern France, it is often the only decent beer available at the grocery.

Bottle. Reddish colour, little head. Sweet fruit and spice in the aroma and in the flavour. Not overpowering. Thin but smooth body, not overly carbonated.

Tasty. A mellow ale like brew. Lovely mild flavour with depth of malt character. Smooth on the palate and little to no bitter aftertaste.

Pretty mellow beer overall and nothing too exciting. Toasted malts do offer some character, mildly nutty, mildly chocolaty, with a little sourness in the finish, but pretty straightforward. As Oakes says: "simplistic vienna malt character."

Sweet malty and fruity at first, then the hiops starts to come through. A very drinkable biere de garde. Allmost as good in can..
