Commercial Description:
The festive season just wouldn’t be the same without this speciality beer whose arrival is always long-awaited. The tradition of Christmas beers is particular to northern Europe. In the years following the Second World War, the breweries used to sell an original, richer and stronger beer at the same price as year-round beers: this was their gift to their customers. The Duycks have perpetuated this custom by creating a special beer sold at the usual price. Produced with more malt than Jenlain Ambrée (3 different types of malt made from French grown barley and 3 varieties of the most aromatic hops from Alsace), this top fermented, unpasteurized beer, best served at between 6 and 8°C, has a rich amber glow, a denser head and stronger alcohol content (6.8% alcohol by volume). Darker than the traditional amber beer, its torrefied undertones are reminiscent of flowers and caramel. And the 2002 Christmas beer had a hint of orange.

750ml Bottle: Aroma of malts and oranges. Poured orange/amber in color with a medium-sized, off-white head that diminished but lasted throughout. Clear. Not sparkling. Flavor is lightly sweet. Tastes of oranges, malts, and cardboard. Light to medium body. Average texture. Average carbonation. Malt and orange finish.

Copper, big loose beige head. Very malty, yeasty aroma, with maybe a hint of sour. Flavor is very toasty, bready, with a very mellow sourness. Maybe a hint of smoke and molassess in there, as well. Tasty and surprisingly quaffable.

Huge big cork pop, it’s good to be on a fourth floor balcony to watch it fly away! Decent amber colour and okay head. Nice bready aroma with some soft spices. Tastes like dark malts, grains, with nutmeg and warming hops in there. A good Noël brew for sure.

Brewed in France..... Courtesy of AFI96, thanks Waylo. Pours amber color with a small off white head. Aroma of caramel, warm bread and spices. Taste is also of caramel, spices, fruits and earth. Mouthfeel was dry and finished a bit on the sweet side. Not bad overall, and one of the better ones from France.

bottle 75cl, thanks faroeviking. this bottle best before 05.10.2007, tasted 10.01.2009. pours a cloudy red amber with a large yellow/brown head that lasts but is fluffy. collapses after a minute or so. aroma of aged beer, well balanced flavors, christmas spices, caramel, slight fruityness. flavor is spicy, caramelly, sweet, sawdust, honey. i can taste the aging has done some damage, but mainly to the palate, and it has added some cellary notes.
