Commercial Description:
The festive season just wouldn’t be the same without this speciality beer whose arrival is always long-awaited. The tradition of Christmas beers is particular to northern Europe. In the years following the Second World War, the breweries used to sell an original, richer and stronger beer at the same price as year-round beers: this was their gift to their customers. The Duycks have perpetuated this custom by creating a special beer sold at the usual price. Produced with more malt than Jenlain Ambrée (3 different types of malt made from French grown barley and 3 varieties of the most aromatic hops from Alsace), this top fermented, unpasteurized beer, best served at between 6 and 8°C, has a rich amber glow, a denser head and stronger alcohol content (6.8% alcohol by volume). Darker than the traditional amber beer, its torrefied undertones are reminiscent of flowers and caramel. And the 2002 Christmas beer had a hint of orange.

The aroma has yeast, orange, caramel malt, and flowers. The appearance is amber/orange with a nice foamy head. The flavor is like the aroma. The palate is smooth. I like this one it’s really nice in every way but not not great in any way.

[Bottle from Peckhams] aroma, caramel, spice, lots of fruit slightly artificial strawberrys and cherryade, some yeast. medium body, sugary sweetess. Malt character too weak, felt a little thin and unsatisfying.

Aroma is malty with some burnt malts a bit of heather and pine needles. Taste is similar quite sweet but more balanced than thier other beers, again the burtness but not such a bitterness off it at the end.

pours a lightly hazy amber with a fizzy off-white head. A floral and citrus nose really kinda expands as it warms, when this thing warms a bit a really wonderful aroma emits reminding me of orange lollypops and some holiday spice that I can’t place. Flavor has a lot of orange hard candy taste, followed by a shot of caramel and finishing with a mineral lightly spiced end. Interesting brew that really kicks in the orange candy taste as it warms, still very nice, but the body feels thin.

Bottle. Tastes like regular Jenlain, but with a slightly more citric/orangey characters. Some caramel sweetness, and some light herbal grassyness. This was very pleasant without being outstanding.

just a very good balanced taste profile beverage that worked for my friend and I for supper. Orange taste was apparent and not over the top. A nice biere de garde, moderated spicey taste overall , some citrus, not too bitter nor sweet perhaps it was aged some.

Pretty stuff, glowing ruby-red. Good nose, lots of orange notes with a fair amount of chocolate, subtle sweetness and some fruitiness. Flavor is a bit dead, mild fruit but mostly flat, dead graininess. Bit more orange, but quite syrupy. Weirdly toasty. Smells nice, doesn’t taste particularly nice.
