| 2.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 11/20 | Dec 26, 2005 Aroma is slightly musty, sour. orange, brown in color with a thick bubbly tan head. Flavor is honey, orange and malt. Very still and lacks any sort of bite. Almost tastes like a low alcohol mead though slightly less still than a mead would be. I think more spice and hops are in order here just to give it an edge to this fat round flavor. sunevdj (1788), Copenhagen OE, Denmark
| 2.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 4/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 2/5 | 8/20 | Dec 18, 2005 Pours brown with a tanned head. Sweet an very perfumed. Aromas of lots of orange, spices, caramel and a hint of chocolate. The orange aroma doesn´t go well with the other aromas. Dry finish. Too perfumed, too much orange. | 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 5/5 | 6/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Dec 16, 2005 NOUVEAU GOUT. Dark red in color, rich with a tight-bubbled, tan, sustained head. Aroma is intense with tangerines and candied apple, sweet, and a touch of chocolate. Flavor is same as the aroma. Simple, straightforward, good development of intense flavors (to the point of almost being overwhelming) on the palate, lush for such a low alcohol beer, and pretty unique. Just a right amount of bitterness hits late in the profile to finish the beer. Jukkabro (3039), Tampere, Finland
| 3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Nov 26, 2005 Brown amber colored, little vanishing white head. Caramel, mild alcohol, licorice and orange in aroma. Medium bodied. Plum, aramel, sweetness in flavor, ends with lasting sweetness and mild alcohol. harrisoni (6946), Ashford, Kent, England
| 2.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 4/10 | 3/5 | 9/20 | Nov 24, 2005 2005 75cl bottle from Auchan. Red chestnut colour with thin beige head. Almost like a nuttly, spicey malty shandy. Overly carbonated with spice/citrus finish. Bit of tea and candy sugar too. Not that nice. Lemon flavours and the spice are a bit artifial and it doesn’t all sit together very well. oh6gdx (9104), Vasa, Finland
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Nov 12, 2005 Bottled, 2005 version. Reddish amber (copper) coloured, big white sparkling bubbly head, which disappears quickly. Aroma is alcoholic, fruity and caramellish. Flavour is fruity with hints of hops. Also caramel and toffee in flavour. The dominating fruit is orange (almost orange marmeladeish). It gets better as it warms up, a bti colder than room temperature gives the most of the orange-marmelade flavour. Long orange in aftertaste. I like! TBone (6850), Pori, Finland
| 3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Nov 3, 2005 Bottled, 0,75 ltr (vintage 2005)
Color is typical to style: reddish amber-copper brown with quickly fading off-white head. Aroma is quite caramellish and suprisingly a bit alcoholic. Some fruits too there (orange is mentioned in the label). Palate is quite thin for 6,8% beer. In the start grassy hops are dominating together with chocolaty (!) notes, then fruity and metallic. In the finish there is some alcohol and light fruity hops. Typical bière de garde, not very Christmas-like, maybe plum flavors can be counted for it. sayravai (3784), Helsinki, Finland
| 3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 11/20 | Nov 2, 2005 (Bottled, 0.75l) Clear, deep red-amber color with a medium, quickly fading, lemonadey-foamy head. Orange and mandarin aroma, slightly artificial and metallic. Sweet-toffeeish malt, oakiness and some alcohol, too. Toffee-malty, very caramely, sweetish flavor with orange peel / orange marmalade. Bitterish, slightly ashy, light to medium-bodied, very thin - almost watery, lemonadey-foamy-carbonated palate. A big disappointment even considering the style. I’m not sure if this is actually so much worse than the regular Jenlain, but the big bottle and christmasy looks sure do raise your expectations higher than an average table beer...
