Commercial Description:
In 1991, the brewery decided to revive an old custom harking back to the 14th century when there were no means of refrigeration. Beer was then traditionally brewed in early December and stored over the winter under naturally cool conditions. The first barrels were only opened in March, as the days started to become warmer. It has a fresh, springlike bouquet with dominant tones of malt and grains. It is made using a top fermentation yeast, malted barley and newly harvested Alsation hops. With 5.4% alcohol by volume, it is a pure malt beer that is highly refreshing. It has a fine white head and clear golden colour, a dominant hoppy taste with a hint of fruitiness. Best served between 5 and 6°C.

The aroma is sweet with notes of malts, yeast, and spices. The color is orange and it has a fine but disappearing head. The flavor is of sweet malt combined with spices. A really good Biere de Garde.

(Bottle 75 cl) Pilsener golden with lots of floating impurities. Nice head that sticks to the glass. Very hoppy nose - fresh and floral. Very aromatic with soft, fruity touches from the added wheat. Some late bitterness doesn’t completely balance a distinct sweetness. 101003

Hazy dark straw. Warm, malty, bready nose with a light herbal hop accent. Very sweet, sugary character with limey overtones and bready undertones. Finishes somewhat thick, quite thick and simple.

75cl bottle from Auchan, Calais. Oh bugger, someone has gone and brewed a beer into a style that I find completely entrancing. Like the Noels, the French breweries all look as though they produce a Printemps as well. This is so much better than the standard blondes due to the stronger influence of hops. In no way is this beer perfect for everyone, but for my taste buds it is wonderful. Gold colour thick white head. Yeast and woody hops aroma, citrus fruit all over the creamy mouth and then sharp hop on end. After cycling home from work, this was perfect. I must organise more meetings in Calais.

It’s a golden, cloudy beer with a relatively nice head. The aroma has fresh notes of hops, flower and spice, and I find this in the flavour too. It’s refreshing, light and ideal for a days on the veranda.
