Doesn’t have the same wacky spice character of it’s brother, and reminded me of a more peppary Leffe Blond. This isn’t a compliment in my book. Still waiting in hope to try a standout Biere de Garde. | 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Apr 18, 2007 This is one of the fruitier Bière de Gardes that Ive had. It pours a clear golden body with a thick white head. It smells of berries, yeast, and pale malts. The ale tastes like buttered bread, a touch of berries, and a mild floral bitterness. The finish has a quiet fruity sweetness. Not complex, but very drinkable.

Low malt in the nose with a background of starchy esters, more gentle fruity esters in the mouth plus some malt and a touch of balancing yeasty bitterness, sweet and fruity finish with lingering ester and yeast.

| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Feb 12, 2007 Picked this up in Paris, France at a little neighborhood market for about 4 Euros. Pours a cloudy gold with a huge, creamy white, nicely bubbled head. Aroma is dry hops, yeast and green apples. Not sure about this beer as a biere de garde, more like a belgian white. Still very good though. I appreciated the yeastiness and strong malt complexity of the beer, with pear and green apple. Not too sweet, just nicely tamed by the yeast. nigos (620), Sheffield, South Yorkshire, England

| 1.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 2/10 | 1/5 | 4/10 | 1/5 | 5/20 | Dec 24, 2006 Had a peculier smell that reminded me of turpentine. The flavor was fairly neutral, one-dimensional, and completely forgettable. A truly French, French beer. I wouldn’t buy again.
