Commercial Description:
With its splendid golden hues and fruity tones, Jenlain No. Six has a distinctive bitter finish and a hoppy nose. The barley-scented liquor sparkles under its light, foamy head. Light and thirst-quenching, with a rich characteristic savour, it is best served at between 5 and 6°C, with a meal or as an aperitif. Filtered, and lagered but unpasteurised.

Editor’s Note:From 2000 until March 2005 this was known as Jenlain Blonde. The name Jenlain Blonde now is used for a new (March 2005) product of 7.5% abv.

You know, I could go on about this stuff but I don’t have too. It looks and tastes like Heineken only sweeter. My bottle was obviously skunked yet I still insist on rating. For one, I should get something out of drinking this swill. For two, brewers who use green bottles are evil and must be punished.

This bottled brew marked best before 2/2005 poured a large sized head of foamy fine to medium sized mostly lasting white colored bubbles that left behind a fair lacing. The body was carbonated transparent and yellow orange in color. It had a hay barnyard malt dough corn aroma and a smooth mildly tingly mouth feel with a lingering tingle in the finish. The flavor contained notes of crisp malt with something else that was hard to pinpoint leaning toward the astringent side.

Bottle. Poured a medium sized white head that was frothy and foamy with small-medium sized bubbles that were mostly lasting. Fast rising carbonation, transparent with a yellow-gold hue. Malty, sweet, and somewhat skunky aroma. Flavor was sweet, bland, smooth and somewhat refreshing. Smooth, somewhat watery-thin and dry mouthfeel. Light bodied beer with fair lacing.

Sweet, crisp, grassy hops and a mostly dry finish. This is like Biere de Garde done light - and it’s tasting pretty darn good on this hot muggy day!

Slightly skunky aroma, with some corn also. Color is yellow/gold. Flavor is a little bland, somw sweetness and corn. A small bit of hop bitterness in the end.

A fresh crisp blonde with a dry grassy hop presence to it. Finish is earthy, refreshing.

Kooky green bottle does not a good beer make. The best think going for this beer is its appearance, golden with a nice rocky white head and above average glass lacing. The aroma is grassy hops, skunk, and corn. The flavor is exactly what the aroma would lead you to believe, grassy, grainy and not too good. The flavors vanish about mid way through only to be replaced by some rather unpleasant artifical flavors. Light slimy palate.

Unimpressive pilsner-like aroma. The flavour is sweet and decently pleasant with hints of spices and fruits. Not Jenlain’s finest and what’s up with the bottle? If it is indeed a "beer for keeping", why on earth put it in an ugly and almost clear bottle?
