Commercial Description:
With its splendid golden hues and fruity tones, Jenlain No. Six has a distinctive bitter finish and a hoppy nose. The barley-scented liquor sparkles under its light, foamy head. Light and thirst-quenching, with a rich characteristic savour, it is best served at between 5 and 6°C, with a meal or as an aperitif. Filtered, and lagered but unpasteurised.

Editor’s Note:From 2000 until March 2005 this was known as Jenlain Blonde. The name Jenlain Blonde now is used for a new (March 2005) product of 7.5% abv.

Pour us a hazy yellow with a large white head. Aroma is skunk at first then there is some corny sweetness. Flavor is again lots of sweetness and cornyness. When i bought this i thought it would be a BDG like all the other Jenlain beers but sadly this was a piece of crap pale lager.

Canned 50cl. It pours a golden beer with a tall head. The aroma is of malt, honey, marmelade, candied fruits and metal. Sweet malty taste with notes of honey, marshmallows and candy. Low bitterness. Medium bodied. Easy drinkable. Good lacework. Malty finish with fennel and melissa sneaking in. Rather nice. Thanks bov!

500 ml can in Paris, 2006. 2-3 Medium golden color, cloudy, decent head. Slight orange tint. Aroma of malt and yeast, quite sweet, reminiscent of an Austrian bock. Cookies, caramel, Malty, sweet flavor, with cookies. Not a lot of hops. Fruity, grapes or raisins, maybe melon, apples and alcohol, very good malt. Tastes like a lager bock. Sweet, slightly fruity finish with almost no hops and a slight trace of alcohol. A nice malty beer, but not good balance. A touch too sweet. It claims to be highly hopped, but it is not very bitter. I certainly taste some, but I wouldn’t say the hop taste is strong. I suppose the can is also hurting the taste… Not bad, but not as good as many critics have said it was.

Clear goldblond coloured beer with small white head and few carbonation. Hoppy spicy, herby aroma. Full creamy palate. Finish is herby sweet and littly dry. Ok.

23-Mar-07 (500-ml bottle: Obtained in trade with Otter, thanks Jeremy!) Prominent oxidation, sweet bread, and sugary corn flavor, yikes, this is pretty bad stuff. The sweetness is completely unchallenged and it’s pretty sickening right from the first sip. No hops and no quality malt flavor, it just tastes like the brewer dumped in sugar by the truckload. Aromas of sweet corn and oxidized grainy malts in the background. Light bodied with most of the "heavy" mouthfeel coming from the sugary sweetness. Medium carbonation. Pale-golden in color with a slight haze. Tall, bubbly white head slowly recedes in rocky fashion, leaving a sponge-painted pattern of lace on the glass. Awful. Time to go brush my teeth.

33cl bottle. Pours golden with a fine head & lacings.Very grassy/grainy & herbal. A bit sweet with a vague metallic note. Dry end with a decent bitterness! A good pale lager!
