Commercial Description:
With its splendid golden hues and fruity tones, Jenlain No. Six has a distinctive bitter finish and a hoppy nose. The barley-scented liquor sparkles under its light, foamy head. Light and thirst-quenching, with a rich characteristic savour, it is best served at between 5 and 6°C, with a meal or as an aperitif. Filtered, and lagered but unpasteurised.

Editor’s Note:From 2000 until March 2005 this was known as Jenlain Blonde. The name Jenlain Blonde now is used for a new (March 2005) product of 7.5% abv.

Bottle. Blonde beer with a hint of grain in the aroma. Sweetish, grainy and sticky flavor with some fruity (melon) esters. Short aftertaste.

Bottle. Clear, a bit pale golden with a white head. Grainy, fruity aroma with grass and some hops. Quite fruity flavor as well, with hops and some malt. Medium to thin body and a fruity finish. Quite nice for a pale lager, but it lacks balance. (070413)

Somewhat disappointing. I expected more flavor, but this French beer was a little flat. Interesting color, but not head and little lacing.

Bottle from Waitrose. I have to say, it’s been sitting there for weeks but turns out it’s not as bad as expected. Nice golden colour, head swells then settles to a thin white foam. Crisp wheaty/barley nose. Sweet barley and malt taste, I didn’t find it bitter at all. Fizzy with a slightly thin palate. I guess having low expectations pays off sometimes...

Looks ok i suppose, nice golden colour with a long lasting, but thin white head, still leaves lines down the glass. The nose is a mix of fruit & malt, quite nice & appealing. The palate is at first sugary sweet but fades and develops a rather bitter/fruity character that lingers on in the finish. Bought from Waitrose, i forget the price, this is ok, would buy again!

Can, 6.0%. Sweet, maizy and bready aroma. Clear golden colour, sparkling. Plasticky white head. The flavour is a bit sweet, but does not have much off flavour. Only a hint of veg in the finish. Slight alcohol feel. Gets a bit too sweet after a while, but drinkable and better than expected.

Bottle. Head was fizzy white and three fingers. Body was clear and sparkling with a pale yellow color. Nice lacework. Aroma was dusty, barnyard, corn, grain, wood, hay, straw, caramel, and fruit. Light to medium bodied with an average carbonation. Flavor was well balanced with light notes of bitter and sweet. Nice slightly dry finish. Thought this was an excellent Pale Lager, properly the best I have had so fare.

Golden with a weak head. The aroma is malty with notes of hop and yeast. I finde the same in the flavour, that is lightly sweet and lightly bitter with a few notes of fruit. IMO a bit boring and a bit stale.
