On draught at Earl’s South Edmonton Common. Clear pale amber pour, little foam, little retention. Aroma was citrusy and extremely sweet. Taste was very mild hint of honey, grains, and bitter grasses. Nothing exciting here, even the Sleemans and Rickards honey browns for the masses are better than this beer.

@Earls in Whistler, BC, Canada. It was served quite cold and had an extremely sweet profile to it. Truly did smell the honey though! Really not horrible but just tasted so crafted for the mass of drones, being a beer dominated by sugar...

Poured a nice deep amber, but little head. Ok aroma - sweet and grassy. Unremarkable taste

(Draught) Sampled at Earl’s Restaurant on 16th Ave N in Calgary. Served in a frigid glass, the nose comes across as tonic and sweet as it warms. Minor hints of grainy malt with a small sampling of honey when you search for it. Oddly sweet and very watery. Not something I’d recommend unless true water isn’t available.

Light amber with minimum head. Aroma is malt with a touch of honey. Sugary and quite sweet with a sticky feel at the finish. A touch thin.

I spoke with the George Cziglan, the operations manager at Kamloops Brewery and he confirmed that the Pin-Up beers are made by KB, and even though two of them share similar names to the Earl’s beers, they are brewed according to completely different recipes. I had this honey lager before going to a late movie around the corner. It is a deep clear amber brown with a dense off-white cap. It has a pleasing sweet caramel aroma. The flavour is of lightly roasted malt with a distinct honeyed sweetness (and I don’t ordinarily agree that there is anything honey-ish about most honey lagers) and a mildly bitter finish to balance it out. Served at a nice temperature too, so that you could really appreciate that this beer had some flavour. Not bad at all! I’d be interested in doing a side-byside tasting of this with it’s Earl’s cousin.

<This is my rating for the Pin-Up honey lager. I actually haven’t had Earl’s honey lager yet. On tap@Joey Tomato’s: Honey amber color with a medium white head. Flavor is mostly sweet with some grassiness and a soft bitterness. Light bodied and smooth with moderate carbonation.

Served in Earl’s Rhino pint glass. Pours orange. thin fine bubbled white head. Light grain aroma with a trace of honey. Flavour was slight honey/floral with some grainy malts behind. Dryish finish. Light body, lightly carbonated as well.
