Oakes (6979), Miami Beach, Florida, USA Mar 19, 2006 Amber colour. No aroma as it was served with a layer of ice on top. In Canada. In February. The flavour - even after it warmed - was light, clean and evenly balanced with light maltiness. Not much honey character, nor any other character for that matter. The least of the Rhinos. tiggmtl (4179), Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada Nov 27, 2006 Very light aroma is vaguely sweet and grainy. Clear dark golden body is topped by a low white head that recedes to ring. Sweet flavour with some grassy notes and light bitterness. Light body with somewhat low carbonation and watery texture. Sampled on tap at Earl’s in Winnipeg the day before Grey Cup. CapFlu (3340), Victoria, British Columbia, Canada Feb 22, 2008 (Draught) Sampled at Earl’s Restaurant on 16th Ave N in Calgary. Served in a frigid glass, the nose comes across as tonic and sweet as it warms. Minor hints of grainy malt with a small sampling of honey when you search for it. Oddly sweet and very watery. Not something I’d recommend unless true water isn’t available. Ughsmash (3082), Waukesha, Wisconsin, USA Aug 31, 2006 On tap at Earl’s. Poured a clear amber with a short-lived cap of white head. Rich toffee, honey, and darker fruits in the nose... almost had a mild barleywine character to it... better than expected. The flavor was of sweet honey, caramel, and a floral/herbal bitterness... pretty well balanced. Light-bodied. Sweet caramel, honey, and mild bitterness in the short finish. Not bad. presario (2447), Calgary, Alberta, Canada Jun 11, 2006 A less expensive pint for macro drinkers at Earls/Joey Tomatoes. Not much else to recommend it. Drink the Winter Pudding instead. Yellow with minimal hops or honey.
