Rich caramel malt aroma with a sweetness and spice. Rich spicy caramel malt flavor. Full bodied but just a tad too foamy for me. A different but very drinkable beer. | 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Jul 6, 2009 Tap at Spuyten Duyvil. Goldenrod pour, lively carb, no head. Pumpkin, umami, stale cheese, poo aroma. Sweet, tart, pear flavor. Thin and grainy. This beer is all over the place. At first I liked it but the more I drank the more unbearable it became. Sadly this was one of the best of the event. JoeMcPhee (5030), Jackson Heights, New York, USA
| 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Jul 5, 2009 Tap at Spuyten Duyvil. Amber pour with no head at all. The aroma is unusual. Softly fruity and herbal, but substantially different from most gruits I’ve had. A sort of light yeasty fruitiness and a bit of spice. The flavour shows some of the typical spicy/herbal notes. Light-bodied with a touch of tartness. A bit of apricot and a long lingering mintiness. Pretty solid really. Rciesla (3830), Exit 15W, New Jersey, USA
