Commercial Description:
I took your year-round favorite, Big Hop IPA and did a little something special to it to celebrate the September hop harvest. There’s a small window where I can get fresh-picked, undried, green, hops to toss into the kettle, and I jumped on it. These “wet hops” provide a truly unique flavor and aroma, almost like the smell of freshly cut grass – if your lawn was completely planted with American hops! Available starting in October and lasting until it’s all gone.

Growler from brewery: Thanks to the brewer who sold me some beer even though I wasn’t there during their growler hours!! This one pours a hazy orangish color. There was a fair amount of a beige head that leaves some lacing. The aroma is decent: plenty of hops to the nose. Mainly piney, but some earthy notes also. The taste is also quite good. A nice medium body, with lots of pine and grapefruit hop flavors. Given the taste and aroma I expected this to be more bitter, but it is very drinkable. Quite nice.

Sampled on draft at the Map Room in Regent Square this beer poured a dark orange-caramel color with a large orange-beige head that lingered. The aroma was strong sweet fruity hops with a light peppery undertone. The flavor was strong sweet fruity hops, tangy malts and hints of caramel and nut. The finish was long, tangy, sweet and full of fruity hops. Not very bitter despite the impressive hop presence. Fairly full bodied. Very nice.

Notes from Capone’s on draft. Copper with nose of caramel malt, resiny hops, some floral and peppery notes. Tastes hoppy, with solid caramel malt bill, some floral, peppery and tropical citrus notes. Decent complexity and balance.

this is the type of ipa enjoyed by a hop head of the American type persuasion. I was very fond of it. it is dark hoppy refreshing and a bit course and ballsy. it is aromatic as it should be. pine cone ? yes but mostly grapefruit and even the rind it was enjoyale from the tap with the fine fare available at Rolands Iron gate in Pittsburgh pa. some sweet and seemingly aged malt flavor gave an interesting extra dimension.

Draught at Capone’s: Aroma of fruit, hops, and citrus. Poured caramel in color with a small, creamy, off-white head that diminished into a lasting film. Small lacing. Flavor is lightly sweet and light to medium bitter. Tastes of fruit, hops, citrus, light spices, light vanilla, and coriander. Medium body. Lightly sticky texture. Average carbonation. Fruity, hoppy, spiced finish.
