Nose has distinct grapefruit, some caramel malt, and hints of lemon. The flavor is stronger hop, some soap, and again light caramel to edge off the bitterness. Interesting, but not very exciting. douglas88 (1648), Salt Lake City, Utah, USA

The nose is sweet oranges, light sugary notes. The flavor is almost like a cross between a IIPA and Barley Wine, sweet and apricot-like flavors, not too bitter. Quite enjoyable. Dark brown with a little orange and a nice white head. Aroma is hoppy and spicy and a little citrus as well. Flavor has more spice, orange peel and pepper maybe, don’t know if it’s supposed to have those characteristics, but it works for me, hops are a little more muted in the flavor than the aroma, but are still in the background and help make this a pretty enjoyable brew. | 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Nov 28, 2009 1 liter swingtop from riversideak. Hazy golden with nice fluffy white head. Nose is sweet estery Belgian aroma with some spice but not much hop. Sweet, spicey, with corriander...some ester yeastiness, some white pepper. This to me is a cross between a Belgian ipa and a saison. Nice stuff. riversideAK (2769), Shoreline, Washington, USA
| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Nov 28, 2009 Orange, sweet/spicy notes, soft dust. This smells like a belgian somewhat. Fruity, spicy, and peppery bitterness. Somewhat floral bitterness lingers on the palate. Really interesting mix of belgian/saison/ipa. Orange amber pour with really nice head retention. after4ever (2806), Brier, Washington, USA

| 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 4/5 | 13/20 | Nov 28, 2009 Poured from a huge flip top bottle. Pours an orange color with a little white head to it. Has a yeasty citrus taste to it. Has a big citrus taste but I’m not picking up much hops like a DIPA should have. Little disappointed. MrBunn (1547), Western, Pennsylvania, USA
| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Nov 22, 2009 Big huge 1L bottle. Pours a dingy tannish color that I don’t think I’ve seen before. Just a little whisp of a head and aromas that are OK, but kinda bland. A bit of apple juice sweetness, a little grass and light spice and just a hint of citrus and pine, but I’m wondering just what this IIPA has in store at this point. Flavor is much better... lots of citrus and pine hops dominate the aftertaste and flush the apple sweet malt flavors off the palate. There’s a little bit of an astringent alcohol presence and a little yeasty spice in there too. Mouthfeel is kind of silky finish is pretty bitter with just a hint of lingering apples.
