boboski (1095), USA Dec 15, 2007 A tan head fades slowly atop a heavily clouded rusty amber body. No lacing noted, oily appearance. The nose is very pruny, no surprise since it’s brewed with them. Candi sugar, scorched but chewy caramel and fully-utilized yeast spark interest. Alcohol is moderately detectable. The flavor is full, with grain and dark fruit notes. Very lightly tart raspberry flesh notes surround the caramels and sweet nuances that flourish. Finishes fruity and very sweet. Cool.
Naven (726), San Diego, California, USA Oct 4, 2008 Bottle, Via trade. Bottle says "Blonde ale brewed with Prunes", but there is nothing Blonde about this beer. Deep, dark Amber color. Nose of yeast and brown sugar. Flavor is sweet, maybe too sweet, but a nice spicy finish. Definitely had a dark fruit flavor about it, although I was not able to pin point the Prunes. I will say, I was a little leery about the Prune Effect, but i’m happy to report that I did not have to take a dump after drinking this. Overall, it was pretty good. Stefano (1016), Esbjerg, Denmark Oct 2, 2008 Cloudy amber colour. Aroma is fruity and sweet with some light spice and flowers. Flavors of bread, light carmel, prune and light spice with a smooth dry bittersweet finish.
hellbilly (906), scottsdale über alles, Arizona, USA Sep 20, 2008 bottle with "11/07" scribbled in white courtesy of the one and only footy aka ’the foot’. pours murky brown with brick reddish hues and a small sandy white head. there’s plenty of random spotty clumpy lacing. there’s a baltic-like pruniness in the aroma that i’m really digging on... mellow yeast, a bit of sourness, mineral/rust/blood, sweet fruit and grass as well. exceptionally malty and a touch sweet but in no way offensive... notes of caramel, brown sugar, chocolate, bruised fuji apples (not the real ones but the chilean knockoffs) and plums with a dry spicy finish. prune-y fruitiness and malt linger in the aftertaste. it borders medium full bodied (but not sticky or cloying) with soft carbonation and a creamy slick texture. very warm in the chest from the abv%. this stuff pairs incredibly well with semi-sweet chocolate!... fonefan (4871), Ulfborg, Denmark Sep 6, 2008 Bottle 75cl. @ home. Clear amber red color with a average to large, frothy - creamy, good lacing, fully lasting, off-white to beige head. Aroma is moderate to light heavy malty, roasted, caramel, berry’s - dark, raisin, plum, date. Flavor is moderate to light heavy sweet with a long duration. Body is medium to light full, texture is oily, carbonation is soft. (290608) esox (113), Oulu, Finland Aug 21, 2008 Bottled. Dirty orange to brown colour. Big yeast particles in the liquid. Medium, creamy head is light beige. Rich aroma is full of sweet fruits: banana and plum are distinctive. Warm and yeasty, a bit sour for fermented fruitiness. Some spiciness too. Something "glue-like" in the finish with sour apples. Flavor is sweet, a bit fruity- sour in the finish. Not much bitterness. Palate is very pleasant: foaming ans silky smooth. Medium bodied.
