Commercial Description:
Our 175 CELEBRATORY ALE uses only natural ingredients, water, hops, yeast and our traditionally hand ploughed floor malt, which has been produced since 1831. This Celebratory Ale is the first ever bottled beer to be made from the new Spring Barley variety WESTMINSTER by Teignworthy Brewery, Newton Abbot, on our behalf.

Bottle.Digging through a back log of ratings i came across this one which was produced in 2006 to celebrate Tuckers 175 years in business. Ruby coloured and flat with no carbonation.Quite sweet but with traces of sweetness. A well balanced and correctly bottled beer,

Nose is spiced fruit and sharpish malt. Pours lifeless with no head and somewhat cloudy. Taste is vinous with some raisin and an astringent finish. The lingering bitterness hides the character of the new malt - at least to my palate - but there is still a sense of unrealised potential in the beer. I’ll wait for a more fully formed use of Westminster barley and withhold judgment. That said, this bottle gives every inidication that it would benefit from laying down for a year or two.
