Commercial Description:
Our certified organic interpretation of a West Coast Pale Ale. This medium-bodied beer has a hoppy bouquet and a distinctive rich taste with a caramel-like sweetness that is balanced with a liberal dose of domestic Centennial and imported East Kent Golding hops. Certified organic, certified good.

Clear deep amber pour with a thin tan head. Aroma of roasted malt and grain, and a touch of not quite ripe fruit. Flavor is malty with a hint of sourness and a touch of hops on the finish. Thin palate. Pretty average.

Amber color with a thin off-white head. Smokey malt aroma and flavor. Rich and smooth. Not bad.

sampled from a 12 oz brown bottle this beer poured a dark red-caramel color with a large khaki head. The aroma was lightly sour, bitter and vaguely fruity. The flavor was sour, bitter and nutty with a lightly earthy and peppery undertone and a hint of nutmeg. A bit complex but despite a few nice elements it does not blend into a particularly enjoyable whole.

12 oz. Nearly opaque red-brown with a small lasting spit. Aroma of dusty grain. Initial flavor of toasty nut and dusty grain is overtaken by tart cherry and prunes. Light-medium body is too fizzy and acidic-astringent. I think this one was infected.

I’m pro-organic in general, and I applaud brewers who attempt to brew organic beer. But is it just me, or do a lot of them seem, I dunno, boring? I mean this one is OK, I guess, maybe a little stale or something.

Thin off-white head of fine bubbles. Light roasty and nutty aroma, herbal notes and some strange compost aromas. Nice dark copper brown in color. Mild malty flavor with some tea and a bit of roasty bitterness. Lingering herbal notes and bitterness. Finishes dry and bitter tea. Not my cup of tea.

On draft (Cafe Japan, Santa Rosa, CA): Reddish amber with effervescent carbonation, and a thin head. Aroma of malt with hint of black tea and carmel. Fresh ale. Round malt tone masks moderate hop dryness. No fruit, hint of black tea. Signature of this medium-light bodied amber is that it is classic for style- and organic.

Nice dark orange/amber color with a small beige head. Simple aromas of dry malt and caramel. Quite fizzy in feel. Light caramel start. Some vague bitterness in the middle. Fairly dry and bitter finish and linger. Boring is about as good as it gets.
