| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 16/20 | Aug 14, 2007 8/14/2007: Eel River Certified Organic Porter pours a clear brown color with a quickly diminishing light tan head. The aroma is quite unique, distinct, and simply great. It is complex blend of coffee beans, dry chocolate and dark malted barley, and chocolate milk. The flavor is very much like the aroma and somewhat sweet.. It too is rich, full, and clean and contains a wonderful blend of coffee and chocolate, roasted malt, and something else that I just can’t but my finger on. The finish is smooth and roasty along with some more nice mocha flavor. The body of this beer is medium-light and there might be a touch too much carbonation, but that seems to fade away as the beer breathes. The some reason this beer instantly conjured up thoughts and memories of camping. Not sure way, but there are welcomed thoughts! There’s just somehting about this beer that I really like and can’t quite figure out. I daresay that I might be detecting a big of cigar/tobacco flavor in the lingering aftertaste...
12 fl. oz. bottle (Alcohol 5.5% by Vol.) from bitbucket. Thanks Bob! This was a great bonus beer. I appreciate the gesture! Rating #97 for this beer... Crit (2416), New Westminster, British Columbia, Canada

| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 16/20 | Jun 19, 2007 Appearance: Pours a dark chestnut brown body with a fizzy, khaki-colored head.
Smell: Predominately roasted malt aroma with hints of roasted nuts, light coffee, and toffee with a dusting of cocoa.
Taste: Again, more roasted malts with a mild sweetness and, again, flavors of roasted nuts, coffee, and just a little bit of toffee and bittersweet chocolate. There’s a crisp, refreshing toasty quality to it. The finish provides a nice amount of espresso-like roast. Some hops at the tailend, but they’re faint at best.
Mouthfeel: Medium-bodied. Soft carbonation. Slightly chalky.
Drinkability: A fine little porter that’s enjoyable all the way through to the end.
