Serving: 12 oz. bottle. Appearance: Very dark brown color with garnet highlights and an effervescent tan head. The head is gone in seconds. Aroma: A roasty nose with some raisin and molasses notes. Smells tasty! Flavor: Nice, even roasted notes (not too much or over roasted), chocolate, and raisin. Some coffee and wood notes emerge as the beer warms. Palate: Medium-high carbonation with a medium mouthfeel and a medium, woody finish. Overall: Very sessionable and very tasty!

On tap the brewpub. The look is dark brown in color, clear, light tan head. The smell is chocoate, coffee, roasty, and malts. The taste is straightfoward, malts, roasty, coffee, and chocolate.

Pretty good beer. Not Founders, but it is Eel River. Tan head, decent body, a little sweet on the front, Totally drinkable, nothing special. Decent roast, which is my criteria for a porter.

Pours the deepest mahogany into the glass, not quite opaque, with ruby hues to the fringes. The head is creamy tan, light, and leaves trace lace. The nose is of toasted molasses and dark cherry esters. The flavors contain esters, roasted malt, bitter chocolate and toasted caramel with a black coffee finish and vanilla effervescence. The texture is smooth, albeit a tad thin on complexity of substance, with a creamy mouthfeel. Carbonation is integrated very well, making for a nice offering in the style.

Medium-bodied coffee aroma. Fairly strong in coffee flavor as well. Finish is smooth and not too heavy. A bit of chocolate as well. Pretty good.
