12-oz. This is a bit of a weird one. Pours jet black with a dense, moussy tan head that falls quickly away to a light film. The smell is what makes it so strange: hugely boozy, a bit plummy, smells much stronger than it might be as a house porter, or maybe it smells a bit buggy with that fruit note. But it drinks just fine. Medium body, very creamy, very mouth-coating, with just a hint of that drying chalkiness so common to porters. Roasty, chocolatey, a bit smokey, touch of plum. Delicious and satisfying with the huge mouthfeel.

Bottle from Uncle Sudsy’s. Sweet malty nose, with coffee and chocolate fudge, light milky sweetness and a bit of tang. Not a lot of hops in the nose, but lots of coffee. Dark, dark brown-black clear, wtih thin off-white to light tan lacing head. Medium body with heavy carbonation and carbonic burn. Starts with coffee and chocolate notes, bitter molasses and a touch of smoky character. Nice nutty chocolate bittering in the finish with some sour tang and something that tastes like lactose. After is mildly sweet with bitter hops and light carbonic acidity. Nice porter.

About a 1 inch thick head of fine dense bubbles. Rich and creamy head. Great aroma. Sweet and malty with lots of caramel, molasses, rich vanilla and some malted chocolate. Very dark brown in color with a bit of red around the edges. Rich and creamy mouthfeel. More vanilla, dark malts, caramel and some carbon. Very good flavor and balance. Much better than I expected. Hint of coffee in there late swallow also. Finishes roasty and malty. A damn fine porter.

Pours black with initial white head that dissipitates quickly. Smells like roasted barley and tastes like organic oats or flax. Drinks with some thickness to it.OK but certainly light on malting and the like. Was not greatly drinkable.

(Bottle from McKean & Charles) Pours very dark brown with some ruby highlights. Four fingers of tan head. Aroma of chocolate and coffee. Mouthfeel is medium full, a touch fizzy. Flavor is chocolate and coffee, leaning more toward chocolate. A bit of a sourish quality that I didn’t care for. Overall just kind of an OK porter in my mind.

This was one hell of a ballsy porter. The amount of flavors was incredible, almost like a baltic porter in the dry salty crispness, and it was extremely saturated with dry smokey flavors. Really flavorful stuff, you get your money’s worth for sure, especially coming into it thinking it is only a mediocre beer.

[eyes] This Porter os darkwith a good 1-2 fingers of foam head that dissipated fast. It had moderate lacing with a notable carbonation. [nouse] The aroma was chocolate and hazelnut. in deep a little notes of coffe. [mouth] The taste was light with note of chocolate malt with a soft bitter finish. Is light in the mouth not complex. Not a bad porter if you like the medium body porters.
