A little coffee and hoppiness. Flavor is fairly roasty with coffee and chocolate. A little bit of hoppiness in the finish. Alcohol is very well hidden. Pretty tasty. stefanje (939), (Santee) San Diego, California, USA
| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Jan 22, 2009 650 ml bottle from Bev4less. Pours an opaque black color with a fair tan head that has mediocre retention and left no lacing. The aroma is big and bold with ripe sweet dark fruits. The flavor is chocolaty with layered chocolates, mochas, a bit of biter walnuts and just a hint of raisins. The mouthfeel is smooth and creamy. The finish is long and biter-sweet. Overall A very good Impy stout and my favorite organic beer to date. markwise (1175), 15 Minutes from Kuhnhenn in, Florida, USA
| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Jan 21, 2009 Thanks group for the share! Pours brown (cola) black with a nose of chocolate, slight coffee, and vanilla. Flavor is dark chocolate, deep coffee, nice dark maltiness, and layer after layer of depth. Enjoyable, and good to spend time with. It opened up once I let it sit for a minute; well balanced. lebshiff21 (85), Phoenixville, Pennsylvania, USA

Palate is very malty and some dark dark fruits. Very slippery in the mouth, goes down super easily. Overall a very good IS. bp (455), Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, USA

| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 4/5 | 13/20 | Jan 9, 2009 Some blackened roast through the nose, but i seriously cannot detect much here, even warmed up. Some roasted coffee. Thick mousse slightly sandy head, in all purposes this is a black beer until you put it right up to the light, then a bit of maroon comes through. Mouthfeel is oily and the heat never gets out of control, though it does mask some flavor. That slick character carries the soft Turkish coffee flavors throughout the mouth and keeps everything creamy. Is that the nitro conditioning? The heat on this young beer damages my rating but I really dig the party in my mouth. Does that even make sense? Glouglouburp (2811), Montreal, Quebec, Canada
| 2.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 11/20 | Jan 9, 2009 In short: A boring roasted dark beer.
How: Bottle. Age unknown, most likely fresh. Tasting session with Montreal crew.
The look: Dark brown body topped by an off-white ring of foam
In long: Standard roasted malts with toffee and some brown sugar. A little floury. Residual sugar level is a bit annoying especially considering the subtle (to say the least) hops presence. Finish has some roastiness and some brown sugar. No alcohol presence and that’s about the only real quality of this brew. No complexity or richness here. The beer is not tasty at all and is actually surprisingly bland despite its high gravity. Yet another overrated impy stout on ratebeer. Ratebeer’s ratings on Imperial Stouts are as reliable as trustable as the site itself. Because these days Ratebeer… Virus check complete… all viruses functioning normally...
