Pours to a black body with a really tall and ultra creamy dark khaki head that looks rocky and has a nice lacing. The aroma is sweet milk chocolate syrup, crisp pale grains, and crisp chocolate grains. Some espresso coffee comes through. The flavor is chocolate malt and a seemingly organic graininess. Coffee and a dry roasted black patent malt. The palate is a bit thin but leaves a sticky coating dry feel. doughert82 (19), Bay Area, California, USA
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 2/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Mar 2, 2007 22oz bottle. Aroma has a definitive chocolate and smokey tone. Appearance was undesirable, as there was virtually no head. However, the flavor and palate were very unique. A much softer flavor than the sharpness of most imperials. A smoother imperial for those not a huge fan of imperials stouts. But I prefer the sharper tastes of The Abyss and Speedway. Petrucci914 (590), Green Bay, Wisconsin, USA

Aroma is light roasts, medium malts, and a bit of dark fruit. Taste is much the same. Good but not memorable. mhelgason (495), Charlotte, North Carolina, USA
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Mar 28, 2007 Bottle. Small off white (mostly dissapating) frothy head. Minimal lacing. Black body. Chocolate, malts, and something like sweet corn? in the aroma. Flavor is a bit weak: initially watery sweet and finishes mildy bitter. Average length on the duration. Medium to full bodied. A bit on the oily side. Flat carbonation. I was expecting more flavor from this imp stout. kaseyk (20), jenkinsville, South Carolina, USA

Malty body with oatmeal malt and a little molasses. The usual impy coffee and chocolate make a brief appearance as well. daknole (3000), Scottsdale, Arizona, USA
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Nov 13, 2009 bottle. Nearly black. Lots of roast in this one. Behind the roast some molasses/prunes/raisin notes with chocolate as well. Over roasted flavor. Not enough fruit/chocolate/coffee for me. FunkyBrewster (503), Chicago, Illinois, USA
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Apr 25, 2009 Pours black with a small light creamy tan head. Aroma is heavy on the chocolate and molasses. A bit of nuttiness and burnt toast malt note. Flavor stars with a very rich chocolate malt sweetness, almost to the point of pushing away any other flavors. A bit of dark chocolate bitterness comes out towards the finish with some creamy caramel and toffee notes. Medium body which is not good for a imperial stout and cloyingly active on the carbonation. Not a bad beer but definitely not a top tier IS
