Mocha, roast coffee/espresso, malt and alcohol nose. Very smooth mouthfeel, some small tingely bubbles, quite thick. Roated malt and chocolate hints. Some coffee bitterness on the finish and some warming alcohol. IMO excellent, not a slap you in the face imperial, but very drinkable. Reminded me more of a sweet stout, other than the alcohol. Smells nicely of milk chocolate and maybe a splash of coffee. Interesting flavors of molasses, brown sugar, milk chocolate, and damn little coffee....maybe some dirt. Very smooth palate edging on creamy. A bit syrupy, but not much alcohol noticed here. Pretty decent, better than I anticipated. jason (1626), Easton, Pennsylvania, USA

Aroma was very chocolatey, caramel and some alcohol noted. Taste is surprisingly lite, lots of chocolate, smooth with no alcohol being tasted. Very balanced quite elegant beer, not standing out in any way, but very well made and elegant. OSLO (829), Minnesota, USA

Aroma of roasted malt, chocolate, some hops. Taste is about the same as the aroma with the roasted malt much more pronounced. Medium-thick mouthfeel. Long roasty finish. Nice stuff. nuplastikk (1252), Madison, Wisconsin, USA
| 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Sep 19, 2009 500ml bottle scooped up in Milwaukee. Opaque black, maybe a hint of brown. Big rusty beige head. Solid chocolate aroma, like hot cocoa with a touch of hoppy astringency. Damn, this beer is quite nice and mellow for the ABV. Silky, creamy mouthfeel. There is some hoppy bitterness up front, but fades into a sweet chocolate finish. You get hints of the high alcohol every so often, but overall quite nice and dangerously sessionable. Well done.
