Dark reddish brown colour, big greyish beige head. Smells "thin" and metallic, also notes of cooked vegetables and wet cardboard. The flavour is first tolerably malty with notes of brown bread and some caramel, without being very sweet. Some fruity acidity in the middle. Dull finish, minimal hops. Clearly drinkable, but boring. Don’t expect to find anything much better than this in Turkey, though.

| 2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 3/10 | 3/5 | 6/20 | Nov 22, 2009 Appearance was dark maroon in color, very little head, not much lacing.
Smell was of simple sugars and caramel.
Taste was on the sweet side, not very complex, not well balanced. Little finish.
Body was a bit lacking for a dark beer. Not a good effort, just a sweet and syrupy beverage that misses the mark. KyotoLefty (1459), Kyoto, Japan
| 2.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 4/10 | 3/5 | 4/10 | 3/5 | 8/20 | Nov 21, 2009 I was happy indeed to find a nationally-available dark beer, but it doesn’t quite live up to the standard set by the Pils. On the sweet side, but you sense you are tasting all kinds of added sugars rather than malts. The roasted taste is also lacking, as are the hops. Drinkable, and not an altogether bad dark beer for a country without a beer tradition, but not all that good.

Malt aroma. Some carbonation. Dark coloured and smooth on the palate with a little dryness in a crisp caramel malt finish. bitbucket (2035), Kirkland, Washington, USA
| 1.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 3/10 | 4/5 | 3/10 | 2/5 | 5/20 | Oct 26, 2009 Tallboy. Basically, if you take Efes Pilsen, and some caramel color and taste, bump up the ABV with some sugar and go with the cattier version of your standard Efes hops, you’ve got Efes Dark. estpiwo (493), Estonia
