[Sampled in 2005 at Thomas’ fireplace.] One of the better bocks, but I still need time to reach bock-level of taste. Maybe ½ a year more. This Mai is better (and softer) than normal bocks. Coming!

Bottle. [Courtesy of yespr, thanks buddy] Average creamy beige head that mostly lasted. Clear sparkling body with a golden color. Fair display of lacework. Bread, grain, caramel, dust, toasted malt. Medium bodied with an average carbonation. Moderated sweet flavour with some bitter notes. Sweet and roasted finish.

This beer has a nice malty bready quality to it, but also had a straightforward approach. It didn’t quite have the complexity I like, but it did have a refreshing quality, with a very very slight hoppy nose.

Off-white head with a straight amber color. Mild, malts in the aroma. Not very complex taste, but it has a little bit of bite. Some bitterness but not much. Some toast in there as well. If I didn’t have these in my fridge now I probably wouldn’t drink it again.

Bottle: Pours orange with white head. Sweet doughy malts in the aroma, along with a honey/toasted bread character. Simple. Creamy body with mild carbonation. Upfront there’s a sweet/sour dough character from the malt. A hint of bread crust comes through with a peppery alcohol middle. The finish is vacant, only has a very late grassy bitterness. A boring, unappealing Bock beer.
