Had this one bottled, thanks Doc! What on earth are people thinking. Clear, bright amber color with a medium sized white head, sour and dry like chardonnay, sour malts. This was not good.

Bottle during a BJCP training session. Clear dark golden amber body with a medium creamy off-white head. Sweet malty aroma, light toastiness. Sweet toasty flavor, light caramel. Dry bitter ending. Medium body with moderate carbonation.

From a bottle--poured a deep copper color. Nice thick off white head with decent lacing. Bready, boozy, hoppy nose and flavor. Sweet grainy, alcohol finish. Yowser!

Bottle. Clear, deep golden, quite sparkling body, with a small, off-white head. I wish for a more pronounced aroma, it’s kinda weak, with malty sweetness, grass and some alcohol. Warming, fullbodied mouthfeel with flavors of sweetness and maltyness dominating, but leaving some room for bittering hops, grass, a little floral note, and a vague, rapidly disappearing hint of cooked vegetables. The finish is quite sweet and malty, with a little floral hoppiness trying to balance it. Yes, I like it, but I prefer the dunkel Einbecker, and I also have to say there’s a lot of German bocks I prefer to Einbecker’s versions. Still very drinkable. (071003)

Very skunky, but through that and the yeast I can make out some vanilla. Amber color, no head. Caramel malt and vanilla, but overpowered by the skunk. Copper and grass finish. I’m sure it is much better fresh, but even then probably not spectacular.

330ml bottle. Kinda nervous. The numbers at the bottom of the bottle, well it looks like the "9" is notched, but the years are 99-00-01. WTF? How much of a difference am I expecting. Well, here goes...Filtered with a golden amber hue. Minimal ring of bone white head. Soggy bready cereal aromas. Touch caramel sweetness. Still light to medium bodied. Slightly dulled, between the rounded malts and the splatter of dryness in the finish. Short lived inital sweetness. Quickly monopolized by the Astringent bitterness. Whadda ya know, a green bottle. I’m sure back in the Fatherland, its quite different. Here, the acidity hits and lingers on the sides of the tongue. Half way through the beer, and I’m already done. Better than most greenies!

Pours a crystal clear dark amber color with a small white head. Aromas of caramel malts and wet grains. Sweet malt flavor with hints of caramel. Finish is bad tasting, almost metalic like. not diggin this one.
