The aroma was full of malt represented by a roasted grain and cookie malt nose. There was also a hint of caramel in the background. The body was medium-light with soft carbonation and smooth, dry texture. The flavor was also full of sweet malt that lasted through the long finish. There was a slight alcohol warmth at the end to cap it off. drshoebocks (5), Chicago, Illinois, USA does not count | 4.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 9/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Apr 5, 2006 The original bock beer. | 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Apr 1, 2006 11.2 oz bottle. Pours a pale orange with no head and high carbonation level. Smells sweet, floral and hoppy. The taste starts sweet and drifts to a smokey mid with a sweet and slightly malty finish. The palate is a little light and thin, but other than that, a great beer. winegarner (220), san diego, California, USA
| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Mar 22, 2006 Poured a golden color with flecks of protien, as in a wheat beer, floating around. Not much carbonation and a weak head. There is a very strong hop aroma, being of German strains. There is a strong hop flavor up front followed by a mellow maltiness and light acidic fruits. It finishes with a gentle hop bitterness and a small amount of sweetness. Seems a little dry and watery for a bock, still quite refreshing. bmanning (142), Arlington, Virginia, USA
| 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 2/5 | 14/20 | Mar 15, 2006 Pours a clear pilsner gold with a thin white head. Aroma of wheat, rice, herbal hops, molasses, raisin, and caramel. A bit malter than a budweiser, but close to the same aroma. The flavor is very sweet with a lot of molasses and caramel coming through. It is not balanced well with hops - there is a definite lack of hops flavor. But that being said, there are some great malty flavors as well as banana, yeast, and apple with a slightly bitter, nutty finish. It feels kind of plain and watery in the mouth with not much happening. Overall, this bock isn’t great, but it’s not bad either. I’d expect more out of a German bock however.
