| 3.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 11/20 | May 28, 2005 330 ml bottles, now available in Norway (Vinmonopolet, bestillingsutvalget). I drank the first bottle at cellar temperature, the second one at fridge temp. Extremely powerful mouthfeel in both cases, you’d think the beer was much stronger than its 6.5% ABV (in a blind test I’d probably say 10-11%). This means that the alcohol dominates, but the malts and hops are evident too. Colour is deep golden / amber, large white head. Moderate aroma of spices, caramel, molasses and hops, some oak and leather too. Moderately sweet with a dry and bitter hoppy finish. I preferred the Einbecker Ur-Bock Dunkel to this one. | 3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | May 26, 2005 (Bottle 33 cl) Bronze-golden with a nice but rather short-lived head. Full-bodied, slightly sweet - and then you’re hit by a sharp bitterness. The same brewery’s dark bock was always challenging you’re buds, but this is disappointingly one-dimensional. Still a nice beer, but far from excellent. 061099 rickgordon (3321), Göteborg, Sweden

Clear amber colour. Grassy nose along with nuts and toffee. Nice malt aroma. Rich grassy backbone with a big malt profile. Bit of toffee here as well. Pretty rounded but still with some Co2. A bit ashy and dry-ish mouthfeel. Long, long finish. Abv is apparent. ante (2965), Stockholm, Sweden

Not very impressive smell, bit grassy, german hops. Sweet taste with a nice hopbitterness, malty and wellbalanced. All in all a more than OK maibock. shrubber85 (2995), Wallhalben, Germany
