12 oz green but thankfully unskunked bottle. Dark, viscous oily amber with a huge quickly dissipated snowy head...sweet caramel, malted milk and maraschino in the thick, nearly cloying nose...super-rich coffee-caramel body with creeping bitterness that eventually becomes a bit unpleasant, alcoholic pepperiness higher than expected...good but not quite what I hoped for.

Crystal clear sparkling amber, thick fizzy white head. The nose held notes of toasted caramel and toffee, lightly soured dark fruit bread, and a hint of chocolate. Bitter-sweet up front, toasty, and lightly bittered on the back end. Medium bodied, light carbonation, smooth, bittersweet, toasted toffee and dark fruity finish. A very nice bock for every now and then...

(bottle) Medium caramel color with rapidly fading head. Big sweet aroma. Flavor is malt with very distinct alcohol. Has a skunked aftertaste (? from the green bottle) which spoils what was otherwise a good bock.

Bottled. Somewhat hoppy, malty aroma. Taste is caramelly, sweet, malty with a hoppy finish. Slightly creamy texture. Unfortunately my bottle was slightly skunked, but it showed only in the finish. The beer, though, has to be absolutely fresh, being from the first shipment of the maibock-season. Despite the skunkiness, this beer is quite nice.

Sparkling clear caramel body topped by a dense collapsing off-white head. Sure looks appealing in the glass. The aroma is very sweet and malty, has touches of that Eggenberg sweetness. A very pure noble hop aroma lurks behind the malts. The flavor is quite nice and malty, medium-light bitter throughout. Caramel, dominates but it is not totally out of whack as the hops making a surprising show right about time you swallow. The alcohol is well masked but not so much so that you do not notice it. Hey I want a little bit of pleasing alcohol in my bocks. Really quite a nice beer.

Clear copper body with a persistent, foamy head. Aroma is spicy and slightly sweet. Flavor is lots of the same with caramel, but seems watered down compared to what I anticipated from the smell.

smooth medium mouthfeel, and a bitter aftertaste with a crisp tingling tongue. Golden yellow and a white tan lace and initially very creamy pour. A warm weather ale, and with 11 degrees on January 1st, that was fine.

Pour is a light amber color with a small head that quickly dissipates. Very interesting aroma. Lots of smells, including spices, malt and hops. Lots of different flavors with a sweet finish. Pretty nice stuff.
