Heavily malted caramel herbal hop. A little spiced bread. Not skunked but certainly not fresh. Buttery and smooth. Very sharp herbal twinges throughout. Not all that exciting. donvitozou (141), memphis, Tennessee, USA

Aroma of bread, with a metallic note fading into vegetables. Not really pleasant. Tasted better, with a sweet malt flavor balanced by a drying bitterness on the finish. Not too syrupy, but still not enamored with the sweetness of bock beers. NOTE: Rerate 10/14/07 as part of a BJCP tasting. Aroma lacked the metallic and vegetal notes this time around, otherwise the exact same comments. The improved aroma did help the overall score a few point though. Still not my bag. 11026 (1773), Alabama, USA

Aroma is malty with touches of grassy hops. Taste is malty sweet with a decent hop finish. Nothing spectacular, but a fair beer. pantani (1902), Salinas, California, USA
| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Oct 6, 2004 Aroma is tart, and sour, with a malt sweetness. Thick white head. Body is a deep gold. Taste is smooth and full, with a note of peach & alcohol. Very, very slight warming feeling that is very pleasant. Silphium (2155), Haslett, Michigan, USA
| 3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Sep 30, 2004 Clear straw-amber body, medium off-white head. Cerealy aroma with hints of caramel and a grassy hops kick (a touch of skunk too). Body has some burnt sugars, caramel, and a grassy, zesty hops finish. Leaving this on the tongue leaves a metallic twang. A couple steps above macro-lagers but still along those lines. Pailhead (2609), Allen Park, Michigan, USA
| 3.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Sep 29, 2004 Bottle: Aroma is malty and contains caramel. Kind of makes me think of a caramel smelling pale lager. Pours and orangish-gold with a small white head that is short lasting. Very malty beer. Definite caramel in the taste. Alcohol is barely noticeable in the finish. Not much bitterness in the beer. Moderate malt and caramel aftertaste. Just like the smell, the taste makes me think of a caramel pale lager.
