| 3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Jul 3, 2008 Draft at the Brick Store. Pours a clear golden with hints of amber with a one-finger white head that dissipated to a ring fairly quickly leaving no lacing. Smell is mainly light sweet malts and grains, mainly wheat. The taste is a little better than the smell with sweet malts still playing the major role, but with a more interesting things going on behind it with some corn and some faint hop bitterness in the finish. The mouthfeel is light to medium and refreshing with good carbonation. This is definitely a drinkable brew if not the most complex of maibocks I’ve tasted. durhambeer (1214), Durham, USA
| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Jun 30, 2008 Bottle. Amber/light brown pour with medium white head. Burnt sugar, honey, loads of German malt, and even a little fresh cinnamon on the nose. Similar on the tongue with a bit more breadiness. I enjoyed this much more than I thought I would. It’s not just one-note maltiness. Dig it. FishManLA (293), Abita Springs, Louisiana, USA
| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Jun 28, 2008 Clear amber colored with a white head that dissipates at a medium rate. Fairly nice lacing. Nose of yeast with caramel and grass notes. Taste has notes of malt, fruit (peach or pear), caramel, biscuits and a slight astringency. Finish is hoppy and fairly long lasting. This would make a good spring/summer barbecue or picnic brew. thornecb (1774), Marblehead, Massachusetts, USA
| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Jun 23, 2008 Pours pale amber into a shaker. Bright white micro head recedes to hug rim. Peach and biscuit aromas. Thick, sweet carameled fruits upfront with a lasting hop finish. jhumphries69 (728), Tyrone, Georgia, USA
| 3.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 4/5 | 11/20 | Jun 21, 2008 Draft at Brick Store Pub. Pours a deep gold with orange/copper highlights and a light, off-white head. The aroma is very sweet with honey and malts and a touch of soft fruit. The flavor follows the aroma - malty and sweet with a touch of biscuit character. Bocks are supposed to be lagers, but this beer wasn’t very clean for a lager - very fruity (though not in a bad way). The finish is full in body but dried out somewhat by a nice, firm, spicy, noble hop bitterness. The mouthfeel was full in body and decently bubbled. Overall, an okay maibock - drinkable, but there are much better ones out there. jhliesen (405), West Melbourne, Florida, USA
| 3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 2/5 | 12/20 | Jun 18, 2008 Bottle--It came in its own glass that was a bit on the small size. The beer was caramel color and no head, at least when it was served to me. The aroma was malty, but the taste had a sharpe hop taste. The finish was a litle sharp for my taste. | 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 5/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 16/20 | Jun 17, 2008 Updated: Sep 1, 2008This was my choice this year for my annual "German Backyard Beer and Grillout" We baked some brezn, grilled some bratwursts, and drank plently of Mai-ur-bock! It was an awesome time and the caramelly, roasted taste of the beer went excellently with the sausage. The pour produced a billowy white head and a deep amber/red fizzy body. Lots of roastiness in the aroma, with a hint of smoke, caramel, and toffee. This all made for a rousingly sweet taste that was balanced by a light bittering dryness and sharp flavor. The beer alternates between sweet and bitter, depending on the food accompanyment. I can’t think of a better bock to accompany a backyard grillout. Can’t wait till next year.
