pours into a light tannish head, smells of date and molasses. the malt profile is not as sweet as i would have expected, but there is not a pronounced hop flavor on the palate. very well balanced, complex bock, as to be expected from the birthplace of bock bier. an excellent drink!

Aroma with molasse, sweetness, malt and candy. Light brown color, foamy, quickly diminishing head. Flavor is malty, caramelic, light fruity and quite bitter. Burnt malt bitterness and bitter hops are present in the taste. Dry, bitter and long finish, well balanced. Well made, hoppy bock.

Pours a deep copper color with a medium foamy white head. Fruity caramel malt aroma. Sweet fruit and malt flavor. Slightly bitter hops on the finish. Not bad at all.

2008 Bottle - Pours a beautiful orange with a small off white head...aroma is fruit and burnt sugar, flavor is rich malt and burnt bitter sugar..I didn’t know what to expect when I bought this on a whim, but it is very well put together and enjoyable...

On tap. It is a beautiful beer conbination with kuro-ame sweetness and long lasting good bitterness. so deep and still has refreshing body. Umai. I’m happy I could have a great beer after a long journey (maybe) to Japan.

Bottle. Pours orange with a nice off white head. Aroma is sweet malt with notes of apple and caramel. Medium body. Moderately sweet flavor of caramel malt, followed by a hoppy but not too bitter finish. Very nice, very drinkable.

11.2oz bottle served in proper Einbecker glass. Interesting and unique tan-brown color with a decent head. The sweetness of the dark and caramel malt balances well with the bocky characteristics. Finish is pretty succinct, a little mild bitterness and not much lingering sweetness. A subtle and enjoyable beer, would love to have it fresh on tap.

pours a brownish amber with an off-white head. aroma is corn, caramel, toasty malt, and dust. taste is sweet earthy malt, some nuttiness, caramel. pretty sweet. mid-bodied with a sticky fizzy mouthfeel. not bad, would go great with a stein & some leiterhosen! a little on the sweet side for me, but a very decent brew. a nice session brew, and i’d drink it in the fall.
