The aroma has notes of dusty hops, hints of metal and smoke??? and surprisingly little malt. The flavour has a light sweetness and a grapefruit-like and slightly dry bitterness and as in the aroma only little malt. It’s not unpleasant to drink, but it seems a bit off? mybestfriend (262), Gothenburg, Sweden

Nose is fruity hoppiness with some night malty notes - caramel and fruit caramels. Flavour is roasted caramel with a nice sweetness. Some tropical fruits and a good bitterness. The finish is quite long, a bit piney with some roasted notes of coffee. Dogbrick (2907), Columbus, Ohio, USA
| 3.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Feb 19, 2008 Bottle at Winking Lizard. This beer is a clear reddish-brown color with a medium light beige head that dissipates steadily. Spotty lacing. The aroma is mildly sweet malt and caramel with a touch of hops. Light, smooth body with a sweet malty character. Notes of bread and hops are present in the taste. The finish is moderately sweet with a toasted malt aftertaste. Average and fairly one-dimensional overall. DrBayern (1137), Morehead City, North Carolina, USA

Caramel aroma, and just the faintest suggestion of some spiciness. Medium body, slightly sticky, medium carbonation. Lots of malty sweetness, soft bitterness comes in late, but the finish remains sweet. Little bit of soapiness noted in the finish. elelwarren (138), SF Bay area, California, USA
| 2.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 3/10 | 4/5 | 4/10 | 2/5 | 9/20 | Jan 16, 2008 Although not a drain pour, this bottle was not worth the expense. Huge head plus expected lacing. Mud brown color. Odor of fermenting, possibly rotting, raisins. Flavor slightly less unsatisfying at first, with somewhat nice roasted coffee tastes, but the lack of sweetness makes it feel like a strangely fruity dunkel, rather than a bock, and the sharp quick bitterness is not particularly pleasurable because it is not playing a contrasting role. Wintergreen comes through, along with pumpernickel toast. i don’t recommend this. stouby (1955), Holbaek, Denmark

| 2.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 2/5 | 11/20 | Jan 9, 2008 The bottle looks good, the beer in the glass also, but there’s not much foam. Tastes very malty and strong, I miss the a sweet part that would male this beer drinkable. Only an average bock. bluevegie (2222), Perth, Australia
| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Jan 3, 2008 Nice clear amber body with a hardly lasting, light tan head. Caramel on the aroma which doesn’t seem to stand out in the taste as much as the molasses, some raisins and the warming alcohol.
