Good aroma with chocolate, toffee, nuts and some hops. Medium bodied. Flavor is also chocolaty with some hoppy roastiness. Bitter aftertaste. Not much else comes up, still ok beer. | 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Jan 24, 2007 Green bottle. Grassy hops and dark malt aroma, sweetish fruits with caramel. Amber body with a beautiful creamy, lacing, rocky beige head. Bitter malty taste, very hoppy-dry and salty with subdued dried fruits. Caramel and wood. Light nuts. Powerful taste, attention-grabbing. Medium-full body, and the only sign of alcohol is the pleasan, smile-inducing warming. Salty dry finish and long aftertaste. Very surprised by this find: may be the best (single) Bock I’ve had. Very sweet aroma...Initial taste is sweet malt, with hint of carmel. Smooth finish. I really enjoyed the flavor of this beer. Not what I was expecting! heemer77 (4303), Savannah, Missouri, USA
| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Jan 6, 2007 From an 11.2 oz. bottle. A deep copper colored body is topped with a very ligth khaki colored head. I smell earthy potatoes and some mushrooms. There is also some dusty toffee. The taste has some rich toffee and a little bit of cocoa. The dry finish is crisp and leaves one wanting another drink. A decent bock, I appreciate since it is not too sweet. jpm30 (1588), East Central, Georgia, USA
| 3.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 5/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 11/20 | Jan 3, 2007 From a stubby 11.2 oz. embossed green bottle with a freshness date on the back label.
Poured a clear reddish caramel copper brown with a large fluffy, rocky head, good retention, settled into a thin creamy lacing, good amount of ringed, laced sticking.
Aromas of caramel and dusty grains, a floral herbal and spicy alcohol.
Good carbonation and a crisp, dryish, smooth medium bodied mouthfeel.
Pleasant tasting, caramelized sugar and toffee, soft herbal, spicy hops with a light bitterness, a subtle toasted grainy towards the end and a dryish malty finish.
A nice, simple, quaffable bock, easy drinkability at a affordable price.

Drank this one frosty cold in a mug. Fine sample of a bock style beer. I’d drink it again. BeerBiker (1392), Kathmandu, Nepal

A great and good choice for the bock style. Indeed you can drink thisone, eventhough if you cannot stand the style as I do. dkoonce (884), People’s Republic of Athens, Ohio, USA
