Had a grassy taste similar to the Warsteiner dunkel, but a better overall flavor. Not much of a hops presence and the smooth maltiness prevails. I’ve had better German beers. asheft (1412), Marburg, Germany
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 16/20 | May 28, 2006 Cerealy Saaz aroma like a concentrated Pilsner Urquell; nice balance of worty malt and hops that suggests this will taste melanoidiny and with full hops flavour. Hazy brownish orange with a wispy, white, thin cover. Hops hit you first, with contrapuntal, melanoidiny malt in perfect balance. Mild bitterness that fades away to leave a malty aftertaste. Medium carbonation with not quite a round enough feel for the style--a bit too sharp, lagery feel. brewblackhole (1381), Muskego, Wisconsin, USA

Hops not a factor, very one dimensional jb (1044), Rochester, New York, USA
| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | May 10, 2006 Dark amber color with a white head. Nice lacing. Doughy malty aroma, a very nice rich smell. Malt, hops, caramel sticky palate. The stickiness, the dough, the hops all stay with you in the finish. I preferred this one quite a bit to their mai-ur bock. hair-old (137), Minneapolis, Minnesota, USA

| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Apr 7, 2006 Thanks to my best buddies dad for giving up his last bottle of this (that is until we struck gold with Corti Bro). But damn, he didn’t know we were going to get more so that was pretty damned nice of him I thought, to give up his last Einbecker. On to the beer... The pour was probably my favorite thing about this beer as it had a beautiful head and a simply perfect color of a deep reddish hue, almost like a dark red wine. The aroma was nice, although a bit tuned down. I noted a roasted malty sweetness that I found enjoyable. Mouthfeel was medium-bodied, and a bit thick on the palate. The taste was roasty and malty, some caramel and toffee too. Nothing left over on the palate except a little sweetness. A very enjoyable beer that I owe thanks to a very respected and gracious man who knows a thing or two about beer. chicagobears (336), Elk Grove Village, Illinois, USA
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Apr 7, 2006 Golden amber, big froathy head, well carbonated. Syrup and caramel nose. A bock like bready maltiness, with more bitter dryness than usual. A real good beer for this style. Eyedrinkale (3209), Astoria, New York, USA
