A strong beer, not bad for an evening in town. biz82 (1328), austin, Texas, USA
| 3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 5/10 | 2/5 | 12/20 | Oct 25, 2004 Bottle. Delicious smell of caramel, vanilla, grain, malt and raisens. Clear red color with a rocky off white head. Bracing, strong malty flavor with hints of the flavors detected in the aroma. Surprisingly bitter finish for the style. Overall unbalanced with a thin body. Perhaps better closer to home. Pigfoot (2226), Minneapolis, Minnesota, USA

Clear, light brownish hue, big, puffy cream-cola-ish head, gently drifting down.
Aroma, mild, nutty, light cocoa, soft cinnamon, delicate and demure...nice.
Rounded, malty flavor, tiny hops. Crawls into the back of the throat, and nestles in for a spell. Nutty, caramel-y flavor, packs a tasty little kick, at 6.5%, the alcohol peeks out just enough to give a mild burn.
Medium body, long, nearly intense finish.
I like this better than my numbers reflect, but it needs a little more of everything to be truly noteworthy.

Body is brown, with a bubbly white head. Taste is sweet, sugar, caramel, and alcohol. Not bad, but not great. Silphium (2138), Haslett, Michigan, USA
| 3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Oct 1, 2004 Clear copper body, medium cream head. Aroma of toast, brown sugar, and bread with earthy highlights. Flavor was not too different from the Mai-Ur-Bock with dark sugars (caramel), toast, and a bit more bitterness than the aformentioned beer. Less "round" than the Mai-Ur-Bock finishing with grassy, peppery hops. Not a Dunkel. jimhilt (1687), Bow, New Hampshire, USA
