| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Sep 24, 2007 Light, mild smoke overlays a more faintly roasted malt nose. The meaty smokiness comes out more as it warms, fine for sure. Attractive burnt copper pour with a half inch tan head and spotty lacing. Medium bodied, filling with a grand smoothness. Solid malt flavor with a complimenting taste of fresh smoke. Woody and roasted, the taste is nice and "meaty". Fortunately the smoke is not too heavy so it doesn’t hide a relatively nice light malt content. Assertive enough to be enjoyable. tronraner (1917), Seymour, Tennessee, USA

The aroma has very definite smoke, but it isn’t too intense; there are notes of raw wood and dark chocolate as well. The flavor actually has a little bit of a bite to it up front, which is a pleasant surprise. After that comes a tinge of smoke and some very well-rounded caramel notes. It finishes with a mellow bacon taste. This is pretty good. ElJefe (553), Rochester, New York, USA
| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Sep 19, 2007 Light brown with a very light beige head. Salty, smokey aroma somewhat reminiscent of bacon, along with brown sugar. Flavor of smoked malts and caramel. Medium body. As Rauchbiers go, this one is pretty easy to drink. Clean finish, the smoke does not linger on the palate very long. beastiefan2k (1603), Lawrence (formely NYC), Kansas, USA
| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 16/20 | Sep 14, 2007 From iowaherkeye, now why the heck is this not distributed in my area and by my area I mean the whole Mid-Atlantic and Northeast? I mean we get the other beers from this brewery (including the overpriced Lust) but not this, f’in eh. Luckily I received it in a trade, thanks Joey. Anyway...Beautiful radiant amber body with orange tints, which allows for a medium clarity. Small head but a sticky lacing. Aroma is sweet smokiness that counterbalanced by a clean lagered maltiness. There is also a heft to the aroma. Taste is again a hefty clean lager with some un-sweet fruits, which are backed up by smoke. Average carbonation and low bitterness. 12oz bottle, Hobgoblin tulip glass. redlight (1475), Winter Park, Florida, USA
| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Sep 13, 2007 Smokey aroma, gouda cheese. Pours a dark amber with no head. Smooth malt flavor laced with soft smoke, very easy to drink rauch beer. Its very smooth. EithCubes (2146), Indiana, USA
| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Sep 8, 2007 Bottle from State Line. Big, room-filling smoked aroma - very authentic! Lightly sweet. Dark copper pour with an overly large tanned head, rocky and frothy and edging toward light brown. Taste is also smokey, more hammy than campefirey; vanilla and scotchy peat with a touch of caramel and sourish yeast (the latter two don’t blend particularly well with the smoke). Vague floating fruitiness (somewhere between grape and green apple) is nice, though. Lightly sticky with some nice maltiness, but a little raw overall. No real bitterness here, so the smoke has to step in to balance the sweetness (it does a fine job!). Medium body, prickly and a touch oily, but on the whole, very satisfying! Lots of pros and cons here, definitely worth a try; with some tweaking, this could be a 4.0+ beer. 5000 (2409), Hardened Liver, Washington, USA
| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Sep 2, 2007 Bottle: Clear copper, huge off-white foamy head, fairly nice lacing, moderate carbonation.   Smoked nose, campfire, some charred
wood and ash.   Also seems perhaps a bit sweet.   Has a smoked fish tinge to it, or even smoked meat.   First thing I notice,
other than the wonderful smoke flavor is that it is fairly sweet with a nice viscous mouthfeel.   Very clean, not astringent, nor is
there any hint of ashtray.   The last few beers from this brewery have been fantastic.   Its like a damn German left for Brazil and
brought all their secrets.   Great combination of smoke and sweet malts.   Coming from me this is quite a compliment because I am
not a big fan of smoked beers.   However, this one is just so smooth and clean its hard not to like it.   Very much recommended for
those who aren’t too big into Smoked Beers but wish to try something in the style.
