Commercial Description:
Eisenbahn’s Defumada, very much like the famous smoked lagers of Bamberg, Germany, is brewed with a special, smoked barley malt, giving it a rich, smoky flavor and aroma. A delicious and immensely satisfying lager.
Ideal temperature: from 4 to 6 degrees

Bottle from State Line. Big, room-filling smoked aroma - very authentic! Lightly sweet. Dark copper pour with an overly large tanned head, rocky and frothy and edging toward light brown. Taste is also smokey, more hammy than campefirey; vanilla and scotchy peat with a touch of caramel and sourish yeast (the latter two don’t blend particularly well with the smoke). Vague floating fruitiness (somewhere between grape and green apple) is nice, though. Lightly sticky with some nice maltiness, but a little raw overall. No real bitterness here, so the smoke has to step in to balance the sweetness (it does a fine job!). Medium body, prickly and a touch oily, but on the whole, very satisfying! Lots of pros and cons here, definitely worth a try; with some tweaking, this could be a 4.0+ beer.

Bottle: Clear copper, huge off-white foamy head, fairly nice lacing, moderate carbonation.   Smoked nose, campfire, some charred wood and ash.   Also seems perhaps a bit sweet.   Has a smoked fish tinge to it, or even smoked meat.   First thing I notice, other than the wonderful smoke flavor is that it is fairly sweet with a nice viscous mouthfeel.   Very clean, not astringent, nor is there any hint of ashtray.   The last few beers from this brewery have been fantastic.   Its like a damn German left for Brazil and brought all their secrets.   Great combination of smoke and sweet malts.   Coming from me this is quite a compliment because I am not a big fan of smoked beers.   However, this one is just so smooth and clean its hard not to like it.   Very much recommended for those who aren’t too big into Smoked Beers but wish to try something in the style.

Copper beer with a big off-white head. Malt and grass in the aroma, with smoke staying in the background. Sweet and malty, with a hint of molasses, and smoke in the finish.

Score: 3.3 to 3.8

lasting fine beige head leaves specks of lace, lots of sweetness in the aroma to balance the heavy smoke, big thick malt body with a bit of stickyness, the rich malty flavor and sweetness is a lot like a bock, the smoke does a great job of balancing the sweet malt, little to no bitterness

Clear amber color beneath a thin off white head. Rich aroma of sweet malts and wood smoke. Initial flavors are sweet and toasty malts with a light hop presence. Smoke comes through in the finish. Nicely balanced...smoke is present but not over powering.

Bottle 355ml

Appearance :Pours as clear amber lager with large, very thick creamy top.
Nose :Grainy sweet with light smoky nose as well continental hops on top. 6+
Flavour/Palate:
Medium bodied, slightly oily texture, sweet malt, bit of brown sugar with smoky finish. Not as bold as traditional rauch biers. Finish falls apart with its lack of substance. Work on malt character and balancing/blending is required. Not bad but need more work.
