Commercial Description:
Eisenbahn’s Defumada, very much like the famous smoked lagers of Bamberg, Germany, is brewed with a special, smoked barley malt, giving it a rich, smoky flavor and aroma. A delicious and immensely satisfying lager.
Ideal temperature: from 4 to 6 degrees

12oz bottle. Poured a deeper and clear amberish/copper color wtih an averaged sized off white head. Aromas of smoked meats, caramel, and some earthiness. Tastes of smoke (although lighter than the aromas) and caramel.

12oz Bottle. A thin, grassy smoke rises from the glass. A bit of old bacon and wet charcoal bleeds through. Not particularly strong, but not limp either. Colored a copper bronze-orange-amber, with a thin tan rim. Flavor is decent and develops some tropical complexity following the limpid introduction of smoke. A crystalline, smooth sugar profile gently introduces a papaya-wood infused smoke character. Some ash, oak bark, and faint cashew climbs through. Balanced and delicate. A nip of alcohol, a touch of hops, and a nice lagery mouthfeel. A respectable, if still not fully smoked, lager.

12 oz bottle courtesy as an extra from Beerlando. You the man, Bryan. Pours a transparent copper hue, a bit darker overall, fairly big offwhite head with a touch of tan, dies to a smaller layer, laces fair enough. Aromas are salty cured meats, BBQ pit, some nice sweet malts underneath, light ash.and a touch of toffee or caramel. Initial is lighter in body, with a bit of a sweetness up front, caramel and toffee, light toast that moves into bacon, smoked meats, BBQ pit, wood, ash. Slightly sweeter than expected, a bit salty, the smoke is lighter but almost more rounded. Wheaty breads, oats, and toffee come out, mixing with the smoked meats and ashy woods. Lighter, but not bad. A decent sessionable smoked brew that might just be a touch too sweet for me personally and could use a little more smoke, the spice and cinnamon almost make it feel even a bit sweeter. Aside from that, I enjoyed the brew and is it would be a nice smoked brew in a pinch, without the overbearing smoke some brews give (Which I also love sometimes though).

Good deal of smoke but no where near as smokey as some of the Bamburg beers. This is good because the other elements of the beer come through.
